Are VPNs just blocked in Qatar?

I’m tired of use Tor to be private while browsing. I downloaded the free version of ProtonVPN (They have a zero knowledge policy and I’ve been using their mail service for a looooong time). But it seems like the app can’t connect to the ProtonVPN servers.

Are VPNs blocked in Qatar? Pretty sure they haven’t made them illegal.

Vpn works fine in Qatar PrivateVPN, ExpressVPN are good

I installed my own VPN on some digital ocean droplet.

It works fine if its just for Whatsapp Call and other basic VPN stuff

Check the Proton VPN protocol in use. Many times it’s not the VPN but the protocol that is the issue while logging in.
With one of the apps I had to spend 10 mails and 4 different versions of app installs to get it working.

Varies from ISP to ISP,

Your best bet is to probably use a random VPN(such as proton free) to purchase an actually good one, I heard expressvpn works great in Qatar, so that’s your best pick,

Then make sure you always have a manual OpenVPN setup on hand incase you need to login to your expressvpn account again,

Shocks me ISP’s in Qatar bother blocking em, it’s so easy to bypass if you know what you’re doing. Here in Kuwait VPN’s are pretty commonly used

Vpn works in Qatar you just have to install it before you come in the country. Major vpns like NordVPN, expressvpn, surfshark, etc all work here. However if you want to download them while you’re in the country, use turbo vpn. Just download it and then when you open it click the x at the top left to get rid of the free trial thing. It has ads if you just want to use that instead of others but it’s free

I don’t know about connecting, but I think downloading is blocked because I have tried to download several vpn apps in my computer and I couldnt get any site to load up.

Using Turbo VPN - paid version

Nope, I have VPN turned on while commenting.

Windscribe works fine for me.

Hotspot shield is fine

Not at all but ofcouse there are security issues

Mostly they are blocked from working in the app, hence why when I was in Qatar I would only use paid vpns, that way I contact customer service and they run you through what to do and how to connect while you are in Qatar

windscribe is great, free 10gb a month for unlimited speeds.
but i think its just all vpn’s sometimes take a couple tries to connect

There’s a constant arms race between the main VPNs and ISPs (at least oredoo)

this Vpn chrome extension works fine in Qatar

That’s a proxy, that only works on Chrome (I use Firefox). The owner of the proxy server can probably see everything you do using it.

cheapest droplet is 5usd per month.

But i selfhosted other stuff there, so I kinda need it for something else

What are u high on? Can u share with the rest of us please?
