hi I’m new to Linux world and I asking for recommendation to free VPN
There’s good VPN and there’s free VPN.
Pick one.
Nothing is free.
You can host your own pretty easily with a raspberry pi tho, if your trying to change your location however that won’t change anything as it’s in your house, but for encrypting stuff on public WiFi networks or unblocking stuff on school WiFi, works great.
There is no such thing as a good free VPN.
I know this isn’t the answer you want, but as a rule there are no good AND free VPNs. Even paid VPNs are mostly shady, especially the most popular ones. Only Mullvad and IVPN are, to my knowledge, very trustworthy. ProtonVPN is decent too. However they are all quite pricey.
Proton does have a free version however, but it comes with some limitations. So it depends on your use case weither it’s fine for you or not.
ProtonVPN has a usable free tier.
it’s supported by the paid plans. which are affordable.
it also supports the OpenVPN client.
Windscribe hasn’t disappointed me. You can get the max free bandwidth upto 15 GB per month by tweeting or liking their pages and stuff.
Hello, if you want vpn for browsing purposes only you can use Urban VPN extension!
Just a suggestion
Self hosted OpenVPN, wireguard, IPSec, pptp, etc are all free. Even open source.
Unless you’re looking for a VPN routing provider. You probably don’t need one.
riseup vpn is included in many distros. you can enable it by clicking on it after installation and you can check if your ip has changed by going to https://whatismyipaddress.com/
riseup is free and you can switch between servers also. only sometimes it is down, and the speed is never exceeding above 2-4 megabytes/s dl.
Tor…lokinet…Why do you need a “free” one?
If you are technical enough, there are people who created their own VPN’s with Oracle’s free tier servers.
You should be really careful of which kind of information you are planning to hand free by using “free” VPN. May the force be with you
Proton VPN.
Free, unlimited. But free only gives one connection. Which is fine.
I like Windscribe, 10GB free per month. And tons of giveaways.
ProtonVPN is free and unlimited, but only 3 locations for free account…
Create your own VPN.
Is it any other way it actual be free? Without limitation and Shadines
Any service providing a ‘free’ VPN is just harvesting your data and you’re opening yourself to privacy and/or security issues.
If you’re not paying for a service then YOU are the product being sold.
Depends on what you plan to accomplish with the VPN?
Depends on what you need VPN for. If you want it to bypass 403 and read an article or something that’s unavailable in your country ProtonVPN can do the job pretty well. If you need it to actually stay “safe” and hide your identity just purchase a VPN.
How is a free VPN going to make money? Seriously?
