Hi, I bought this Asus AX92U with the intention to set it up with a VPN (probably NordVPN).
According to the manual there should be a VPN line in the left-hand menu bar as shown in the manual.
I unfortunately don’t have that line and a few other options seem to be missing.
I couldn’t find anything about the interface having a simple and an advanced mode, so I don’t think it would be that.
I have checked for firmware updates and the router was already provided with the newest firmware.
Now I am stuck and I am wondering what it is I am missing.
Maybe someone with this or a similar router from Asus could be of help.
Thanks
Do you have it in “Router” mode and not in “Access Point” mode?
The VPN option is under Advanced settings between IPv6 and Firewall (on the left, but you need to scroll down)
Ah shit !
I was afraid that might be the issue.
It’s in AP Mode…
I know that’s what the manual says but I don’t have any of those options.
All I got under Advanced Settings is:
Wireless ; LAN; Administration; System Log and Network Tools
Yeah to use VPN it must be in Router mode because it needs to route traffic through the VPN
Darn! Well that clears things up.
Is there a way to have it run in router mode and have the VPN work for only one device?
I planned on using VPN for my Apple TV, but don’t want it to mess with any other devices.
Yes that is possible, you can cascade routers. Just make sure it has a different IP range than the first router. Example: If your first router is 192.168.1.1 the second one must be 192.168.2.1 (the second to last digit must be different)
Than just connect its WAN Port to the other router / your network
