I have Avast Premium I have noticed that my computer keeps randomly losing Internet connectivity every other day. I have been inspecting and I noticed in the Event Viewer that this happens at the exact moment:
The Avast Antivirus service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 5000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
Has anyone else had this problem? Every time this happens, I have no other option than to restart my PC.

Starting about 2 days ago, Avast will randomly make me lose Internet connection and force a restart to reacquire it. I know this is related to Avast because it always coincides with the taskbar icon of Avast getting a red cross and the warning “You are unprotected!” will pop-up. Curiously, opening the Avast GUI will contradict this and it will claim that all the shields are “ON”.
Does this last bit also happen to you? Have you been able to learn anything else?
I have the exact same issue on 2 laptops now, started over a week ago and still driving me crazy. Hope they fix it ASAP as this is not what I paid for.
Same thing happening to me, second time in the past couple weeks. “unprotected” and internet gets knocked out. Two relevant event viewer entries:

Name resolution for the name shepherd.ff.avast.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded.
Same here , same event viewer LOG error.
Never had any issues until this week , why is this happening ?
People on the official avast forum have complained aswell and I posted my issue on there.
There is a new build/update for it so ima try that in the meantime.
Yeah, same here. It’s definitely Avast causing it. I reached out to support and received no help whatsoever.
Found the culprit its avast webshield turning it off i regained the internet must be messing with my firewall
Update ▸ Engine and virus definitions. You may need to restart after this.
I tried this a few days ago, and it hasn’t happened since. Not 100% sure if that fixed, but I thought it was worth sharing.
OK. I would give it a week or so.
Avast seems to have these insanely specific quirks every year or two that get resolved quickly, so I hope this one is no exception. If not, then it may be time to switch antivirus. Avast has been getting on my nerves for a while now with their pushy scare-tactics pop-ups anyway.
I went to settings and updated the AV engine and virus definitions. Seems to have fixed it.
Yeah I agree. I am this close to switching to something else.
Sadly it didnt fix it for me only thing is still turning off webshield entirely untill they fix this issue
