I’m going to travel to China soon and want a VPN to avoid the internet censorship. Which VPN should I use?
In my research it seems that there are a lot of companies that lie about working in China so I don’t know which one to trust. Can anyone confirm with first hand experience which VPN(s) are working?

I would recommend looking into AstroVPN, they do have censorship-bypassing VPNs that are able to get through China. It’s a bit more affordable than other solutions, though making one yourself will always be cheaper.
Lantern has been designed to circumvent censorship in China and it is free. But it is not a VPN, it works like a tunnel.
If you’re technically savvy, create your own, its the easiest (best?) way to get around The Great Firewall:
