I bought BitDefender because i was told it was one of the best anti-virus out there.
Unfortunately my internet got slower and slower and today it blocked my internet access all together.
I eventually had to uninstall it, to get my connection back.
Is there a way to prevent this from happening again if i re-install bitdefender?
Did you have content control turned on?
It can, yes. Ours is blocking all internet access if content control is turned on.
Have you tried it again today? Looks like there might have been a bad hourly virus detection that went out and broke Content Control. It should be fixed now
Don’t use bitdefender vpn. It’s not worth it. Much more trusted and audited out there. If you just bought it, return it. Uninstall bitdefender vpn as it auto installed when installing bitdefender itself.
From BD Tech Support:
We have received notice from our development team that BEST Windows 7.8.3.265, containing a fix for the reported issue, has officially been released on the fast update ring.Kindly follow the steps below in order to make sure that the agents update to the above version before re-testing the behavior.
Make sure the Product Update policy is enabled from General > Update.
Make sure the Update Ring within the General > Update segment of the policy is set to Fast Ring.
Trigger a Bitdefender agent update on endpoints either from the management console (they shall need to appear as online - blue) or from the local host.
I just installed it, didn´t go in a fiddle with any of the settings so i don´t know.
Also from what my computer told me it was the firewall on Bitdefender that blocked my internet.
Does content control effect the firewall??
How do i check if its switch on or off?
I do not have parental control installed.
I never did but i think i am swearing off Bitdefender.
It blocked my internet connection once again, and when i uninstalled it i was without internet for at least 30 minutes or so.
And i neither have the skills nor patience to look around the internet for a possible solution.
To bad really because i heard good things about Bitdefender, but i have no use for a service that slows down my internet or directly blocks access to it.
I have it on roughly 100 work stations where I work. It works great for blocking threats, ease of deployment/policies and overall its a solid solid product.
BUTTTTT, this is the 2nd time an update has blocked my users from the internet, and the 2nd time it has been due to Network Control/Content Control.
I have ~10 computers and none of them have internet issues. Is it a firewall issue or a VPN issue?
