Ever since I found out HBO Max wasn’t coming to Europe, I was massively disappointed. So recently I’ve been wondering if I can use a VPN to subscribe to HBO Max without living in America.
I know you can use a VPN to view region locked content, and the usual example is Netflix, but Netflix isn’t exclusive to certain countries, unlike HBO Max, so can I subscribe to a VPN, and then install and subscribe to HBO Max despite not being in America? Can I install and subscribe to apps that are region locked, or does this only work on getting region specific content on apps that aren’t region locked?
Sadly, no. Most services will still require you to have either a credit card from that region or require a cellphone number in that region to be verified. So far I have not seen any of them use paypal so no luck there either.
Thus! This only works to “unblock” content on services you have already subscribed to.
I contacted their support because one of my VPN servers showing a connection error and they responded that VPN is allowed. Though I highly doubt it because I was able to stream videos by using my residential-based IP servers. Datacenter, on the other hand, doesn’t work.
So maybe you can try and get someone that lives in the U.S. to host a VPN server for you at their home, otherwise, it luck-based.
