I’m Facing the issue these days of turning on the vpn on whole day and while i lock my iphone the internet service is not available somehow the vpn also turns off after the unlock it will be back connected and get the notifications i missed.
Well, what proton tells us is just not true (at least not as far as my iOS devices and all those apple devices my family owns are concerned).
Neither ivpn, nor mullvad have this security flaw. Tested for months now. Rarely any discs. They have issues of their own (like slow multi hop connections - this, proton manages far better if you ask me) - but this does not undermine your security. Continuous discs do that.
I switched and there were very few moments of regret.
I like proton and might come back some day - if they manage to counter this disastrous app behaviour.
I have this same issue on Android.
And on desktop (linux) I have the issue that the VPN drops and reconnects at random. It’s infuriating. But I get exactly the same behavior with other VPN providers.
All the time with ProtonVPN, which is why I don’t use it that much. I like the service but this is a pain and why I use IVPN and/or Mullvad
Hi! There is a known disconnect issue on iOS while your device is locked/sleeping, related to the OS itself, and is outside of our control. We have already reported this issue to Apple. Once you wake up your device (i.e., once you unlock its screen), it will immediately reconnect to the VPN.
More information can be found at the following link: https://protonvpn.com/support/sleeping-iphone-does-not-run-protonvpn/
Feel free to contact us if you experience any other issues.
Just out of interest, why does the VPN connection remain with Mullvad and IVPN even in sleep mode? Same iPhone, iOS etc.
Only ProtonVPN loses the connection in sleep mode. Strange …
Never had this issue with NordVPN
Not just proton, Lock Down app also doing the same since the last update.
