Anyone else having trouble watching the games through ESPN using a VPN? I live in southern Va, so I’m in the blackout range, but this has worked in previous seasons. All of a sudden it’s stating that I’m in the blackout region even with a vpn set to California.
I was out the other day and tried to record the Columbus pre season game. The delay caused it so only the first period recorded. I tried to watch it on ESPN + yesterday and was still blacked out in the Carlisle, Pa area
I don’t use it but 
I-66 ain’t got preseason but it always has the better experience with VPN imo. Other option is going to the sports hub to .stream
Caps fan here in Las Vegas. I can confirm that’s there’s something going on with ESPN+ and VPN. I like to watch the Knights games which are blacked out locally. It was around mid season last year my VPN stopped working with ESPN+
ESPN+ may have redeeming value but it is essentially pointless if you live in the DC / VA area. And this just makes it more so.
Sad you can’t watch the Caps without monumental+ or youtube tv or cable.
I’d imagine they’ve labeled your account with a most likely location - perhaps if you watch without the VPN, you sign up with PII or pay with card. Running with YouTube TV I think is your best bet, honestly. Can you imagine paying for Monumental lol
I bought a couple SuperBox’s for this reason. I moved to New England and still watch Joe B and Lockers broadcast. No such thing as blackouts anymore.
I didn’t have an issue until today. I use obfuscated VPN servers and override my GPS sensor location which makes me think they are linking something with my account like my billing address.
Update SOLVED: ESPN is using browser geolocation. I downloaded the Location Guard extension in Microsoft Edge and set the setting to fixed location with the same GPS coordinates as my obfuscated server VPN. Go to mylocation.org to check your IP and geolocation. Note, I’m not sure if Location guard is secure so I used a different browser and deleted+disabled all cookies to be safe.
I’m trying to watch the caps game today with nord vpn and it’s not working. It has been working all season until today. I’m getting the not authorized message
I’m hoping it’s an ESPN issue and not actually blocking me out. I don’t want to pay for monumental because I’d rather use ESPN+ so I can watch other games throughout the week
Obviously still sucks that this is happening but that is an option

Not working for me either. I’m using nord vpn which has worked all season until today. I’m getting the not authorized message. It’s got to be something with our accounts
I know mlb tv tracks vpns hard (jokes on the Os and Nats when my kids grow up not being able to watch MASN or MLB TV so they don’t care about baseball) but that may be what’s happening with ESPN +
I think the games are blacked out for 48 hours which is also stupid
