I signed up for expressvpn to watch Japan Netflix. I connect to tokyo server and I go to netflix and then netflix re-routes me to US version of netflix. waaa. I contacted expressvpn who told me that they were having “optimiziation” problems with japan. When I pushed them they admitted that Netflix has figured out how to block users from expressvpn (and other vpns) from watching japan netflix in the US. Expressvpn does not have a solution as of today 6/29/2020. It is annoying because it is the only reason I bought the vpn in the first place. It doesn’t look promising that this loophole is coming back.
I saw an article where they said Netflix isn’t blocking VPNs anymore but just hiding content from different regions
I think we all need to contact Express support and push them on finding a solution. They shouldn’t kid themselves that this is the only reason any of us are using the service and if they can’t deliver on what they advertised then we should all get our money back.
my son only speaks Japanese. Is there any other way to access Japan programming?

Yeah, we should all contact support and report the problems we’re having. Yes, they already know they have a problem, plenty of people have already contacted them, but higher the number of dissatisfied customers = more incentive to come up for a fix for it.
Its a lot more work, but if you have family in Japan who dont mind sharing their internet with you, you could set up a VPN endpoint on a router in their home then VPN into that router and then Netflix thinks youre watching from their house.
If I were in your situation, thats what I would do. I’d offer to pay for half/all of their internet bill too.
Sorry to hijack this post, but do you have a tutorial or would you mind walking me through this? I have access to home internet in Japan but I’m stuck in the states as of now.
