First VPN app with private WireGuard and OpenVPN support

A new app called VPN Client Bee just showed app in the tvOS App Store (US at least). It can connect to any WireGuard, OpenVPN and IPSec server, even your own.

I just tried connecting to my own WireGuard VPN server (on a UniFi UDM located on a different continent) and it works great. You just need to upload the config file via web browser. Great solution until there’s an official WireGuard/OpenVPN app, if it ever happens.

Anybody knows anything about this company? They seem to be affiliated to FlowVPN. There’s also some sort of subscription plan ($17 / year) but it’s not clear if that applies to people using their own servers.

I use Tailscale. Uses wireguard and is slick. Great system.

It works for free only for 3 days.

Wireguard connection is perfect.

I hope that wireguard will upload it’s official app soon.

I just tried it. I was able to get it to connect via Wireguard to the server I have. Curious what the experience other people are having.

Working with wireguard for me too. Disappointed if it requires subscription even for own server

Anybody got it working with OpenVPN? It seems
to default back to WireGuard when you upload an opvn profile…

not working with my personal OpenVPN (installed on Asus router), this file works perfectly on my iphone,ipad,android, pc using openvpn app

Oh yeah,

the first app since ever to connect to my airvpn server! Via ovpn or Wireguard. It works and it‘s a trial app for 3 days. Then 19,99 €/Year…… You don‘t have to subcribe a plan, if you just have your own server or third party vpn provider.

For some reason, it took 10 days for me to see the “subscription needed” paywall. So yes, you have to pay even if you only use your own servers. Hoping for an official WireGuard app.

I installed this a week ago but it kept falling to upload configuration files. I basically gave up and canceled the trial.

Today I gave it another try and to my surprise the files uploaded and it connected to my WireGuard server back in Norway.

For now operation on a private WireGuard without any subscription.

Just connected with VPN Unlimited. Works perfectly. Had no idea we could use a VPN since tvOS17. I can now retire my Fire TV lol

Works for me with Nord but it’s really slow for netflix? Anyone else have that issue

I can’t get it to work. The instructions say to upload config files using the link in the app from a web browser. The webpage never displays. I just tried on three browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) but I get connection errors.

Is there a webpage/link that explains how this works? I’m on a Mac and my current VPN is PIA. I only use it while surfing the web. My ATV 4K is on 17.1 and I had no idea any of this stuff was possible with ATV.

Is it easy to set up I got wireguard server ip cheers or is there lot messing with laptop ect

How did you get tailscale working? Is it on the appletv or do you need a server?

One week later, I can still connect to my WireGuard server with no payment required. Maybe payment is for their own VPN service, but private servers are allowed for free? I have to say it works great (WireGuard, not OpenVPN)…

I got it working but I dont want to pay for the sub. Looking around now

Same for me. It does not work with my private OpenVPN server, which is an ASUS router back home. Any idea?
