I am trying to do some testing on what affects Skill Based Matchmaking in various online games. One of the methods I want to test is the NAT type (Open vs Moderate vs Strict). I know the implications of gaming on a Strict NAT type but nonetheless I want this data and don’t want to mess with my router and affect everyone in the house.
How can this be done via the profile configuration to turn my Open / Moderate NAT type to Strict only when connected using that particular profile?
Thanks!
You could try configuring your firewall according to the answers in https://stackoverflow.com/questions/11719572/how-to-simulate-different-nat-behaviours
OpenVPN does not do any NAT, it is typically setup by the OS where you run OpenVPN on
Hrmmm. There is a product called sbmmoff that has a list of open and strict servers. When you connect to the strict ones the games will show that your NAT type is now strict. I thought they might be doing this with the openVPN config files since the product uses that method.
I know to make your NAT type open you need to open the game ports. I tried the reverse and block traffic in / out and both to those ports but it either totally kept the game from running or didn’t change the nat type.
i have figure out a way to do it
