I’ve just started getting this page when I do any google search while my VPN is on.
Has anyone encountered this?
This is a very common occurrence when Google believes that you are searching for vulnerable websites using their search engine (this is called dorking) or that you are trying to increase a websites visitor stats using google to get your website to the front page of a specific search term. You may have not been doing it, because sometimes Google will do this kind of filtering through the ASN of the IP address, or someone could have been doing these actions on the VPN server prior to you connecting to it.
Cheaper vpns get the captcha all the time
It could mean your VPN does not have a good handle on abusers, and allows automated queries to Google, which Google doesn’t like.
Google targets entire IP ranges though. So if you’re on a small VPN provider the abuse may not be their fault, but rather another entity within the same IP range.
Switching servers should help. If it doesn’t, switch to a better VPN provider.
Stop using Google to search directly. Get Google search results via a public Searx instance instead.

Super annoying, sick and tired of the stupid games Google plays, just switch to duckduckgo when you are on the VPN, problem solved.
The real question is question is why does the VPN cause the captcha to be unwinnable?
Normally I can get past most captchas on the first try, but when I tried to google something with a VPN, I went through 15 tries before I gave up and uses bing instead.
Ah OK, that makes sense I guess. I turned off the VPN, did a search, then turned it back on and things were fine. I just get suspicious when I see stuff like that. Thanks
I use it on my phone. But google still gives me better results for work related things.

Hey did you ever find a solution to this? I have to disable my VPN every time I need to do a google search.
It was a long time and several VPNs ago. But I think it was a temporary thing.
I switch von locations and seems to fix it.
search using Yahoo search. no vpn blocking
This worked for me too
Bing doesn’t have it either. Google can’t push ads so it pisses them off
