Well all the digital goods people purchase to “own” are not really yours and you will never own them and they will jjst disappear from whatever service you bought it from eventually , I don’t see how piracy is even illegal in 2024.
Oh yeah and spectrum are a bunch of snitches , really Charter communications are a bunch of snitches, I’ve had them contact law enforcement before over somthing that allegedly happened on my IP , now I did not get in trouble as I did nothing wrong , and more importantly I refused to cooperate with the detectives but yeah total snitches, definitely don’t use that isp if you don’t want detectives knocking on your door.
Ditch Spectrum; Copyright strikes are a PITA. Rebel into the dark side.
I use a vpn always and when I forget I just tell them that it wasn’t me and it might been somebody that hacked my wifi password as I had an unknown deviced that I didn’t recognized, but have changed my password since then.
Next is a hard walled garden then eventually removal of service. How about stop stealing and pay like the rest of us
Get a firewalla purple. Problem solved at that point.
Factory reset your modem and router… return it to spectrum get new ones , VPN everything all the type now.
I’ve decided it’s best if I stop completely, for good. Already acknowledged and agreed in the web pop up. Anything I need to worry about if I don’t get striked again?
There’s actually 12 separate steps. On step 12 they ban you from having internet with them for one year
VPN doesn’t work if you are torrenting or at least the ones I tried, luckily a lot of the sites you can just watch on the site so you dont have to DL so no more strikes.
I already decided to stop what I was doing before, so am I in the clear now?
I already acknowledged it, and agreed in the web pop up.
I’m stopping for good, and already acknowledged and agreed to stop in the web pop up.
Isn’t it 3 strikes until further action is taken? Everything is working fine as of right now, but I am concerned that they’ll take further action by my billing date.
Edit: upon reading through each reference number, it’s the same 2 titles I “obtained” for all of them. If that helps
Yeah Nintendo for a fact is ambitious in litigating against those sorts of things
done, already deleted all files and uninstalled the software i used
You can just pause the torrent, no need to delete the files.
Or just buy the movies you want to watch.
When you’re connected to a VPN, you’re using the VPN’s DNS.
Op was in a softwalled garden which means that he had so many strikes that they stopped just sending him emails and locked his internet so that he could agree not to do it anymore. Next is a hardwalled garden and finally disconnection for 1 year.
notices.spectrum.com, is the address I was redirected to when in my browser
Changing the DNS isn’t going to work unless the DNS goes over the VPN. DNS is unencrypted traffic.
Spectrum uses either Deepfield | Nokia or https://www.kentik.com/. They are able to see DNS requests regardless of which DNS you use unless it is encrypted or over https.
Either of those observability platforms give Spectrum insight into everything you do on the internet. I doubt they give access to techs and customer support agents, but push comes to shove, they know.
And here’s some seriously scary shit. If providers share netflow data, they can see your VPN traffic metadata.
You could use any excuse you want… you could flat out admit it. To them it makes no difference, it will still count as a strike and after 12 strikes you will be disconnected for one year. Best to make sure that VPN is turned on at all times when you’re downloading copyright material.
