Got an email from influence logic offering sponsorship with Aura. Is this legit?

Title says it all. I’m a smaller channel with 18,700 subscribers. Typically, my views range from 10,000-30,000, sometimes I get over 100k views as well. Lowest I’ve gotten recently is 7k views. For one, is this a legitimate offer, and two, how much should I charge for a 30s/60s ad?

This is the email that they sent:

Hey [Youtube channel name],

My name is [Redacted], I work over at InfluenceLogic. I hope you are well. The quality and energy of your work is magnetic, so I’m glad to have come across your content! I’m finding that my horror fix isn’t being met with just movies so it’s a blessing to find more quality content. Your channel is a head above the rest and I’d love to discuss the budget and deliverables of a possible sponsorship.

I’m reaching out on behalf of Aura, who helps protect your online data and personal information.

There are so many leaks that people don’t really have a clue how to protect themselves anymore, and this puts them at risk of credit fraud and identity theft.

I’d like to discuss the possibility of partnering with you as I believe this is an important resource for your audience in this age of data breaches and hacks.

Please let me know if you are interested, and we can discuss the budget and deliverables.

Best,

[Redacted]

I think we need more details about the email itself

I got that email and it ended up being legit. Talked with influence logic and I’m set up for the partnership to start in March. 83k subs here. A larger channel in my niche partnered with Aura in Feb.

Hey there,

I am going to be honest, this most likely is fishy. Most of the time when a sponsor reaches out it’s primarily done through a marketing / influencer agency.

In the email, they’re usually quite straight to the point, as what they would expect from the creator.

They say something like:

Hey I’m Dave, from agency X and we would like to offer a sponsorship deal for company Y. For the upcoming month March.

My client is wondering what a 60 second ad integration in the beginning of your video would cost.

That’s usually how they approach you. They clarify what they’re looking for, and are seeking an answer to your question. Then usually it takes time, as they will push your answer to their client for confirmation.

Vague offers or “partnerships” are most of the time scam/ phishing. They will also NEVER tell you to open a contract or offer through a download. Promotion material always comes after you’ve signed the NDA, which is mostly always done through a recognized software.

Hope this helps! :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

I got this email from the same company. How did this go? Also if you don’t mind what was to pay and/or commission.

What is the actual offer…

I had a similar email and email exchange with them, albeit on behalf of a different brand. I did a fair bit of research on them - found the guy on LinkedIn, checked out his recommendations, spoke to other people on Reddit about their experiences, etc. Granted, all of these things could be orchestrated to give a false impression, but I didn’t get that impression - all seemed legit to me (I work in cyber security so I’m pretty well-attuned to scams and scammers).

The only disappointment, and perhaps red flag, was they cancelled our call to discuss in more detail around ten minutes before, saying the vendor no longer had the budget to proceed, but everything up until that point had been legit - no clicked links, no requirements to install anything, etc.

That’s the thing, they didn’t exactly go into detail about what their offer was, other than the fact that they were offering a partner deal with Aura. They essentially asked if I was interested, and they said that they would discuss the “budget of deliverables” if I was.

Your comment was made 27 days ago. Did you do the partnership and did they pay you? I have a similar e-mail about Aura from influencelogic that I’m looking at now.

Well that makes me feel a lot better about letting them know that I’m interested. Thank you!

Yeah, definitely strange that they weren’t upfront in their email. I still sent them a reply asking what their offer is, since I know some people have worked with this company in the past. I’ll leave an update here if it ends up being good, otherwise if they start asking me to click on sketchy links or download sketchy software, it’s a no go.

For now, all they’ve told me is that they’re offering a partnership with Aura, and that they would discuss the “budget of deliverables” if I reply to their email saying that I’m interested. They also sent a link to a YouTube video showing the NBA’s partnership with Aura, and that was basically it.

It’s best here to post the full email (with redacted info to protect yourself of course) so people can gauge the legitimacy. Of course it’s understandable if you don’t feel comfortable posting the full email. But, For example is the email address legit? Can you tell it’s from the company? That’s one of the first things to look for. Is the email tailored to you, or is it a generic email template?

If the address is good, and the email doesn’t sound sketchy, it could be worth it to ask about the details of the partnership.

They are legit, but I’d recommend taking whatever upfront money they offer. My videos with their ads have about 50k combined views with about 500 clicks and zero conversions so far. And I have a highly engaged audience that I thought would convert. So I’ve made zero money from the commission based offer that was super high.

Yes, the address is legitimate. It comes from influencelogic./com, which I confirmed does lead back to the actual company. The email also seems to be tailored to me, since I specifically make content in the internet horror niche.

I went ahead and added the redacted email to my original post, so you’re more than welcome to look at it if you want.

Interesting… Did you catch wind of the landing page you were sending people too? Because I too saw a couple hundred dollar commission offer for me, and they wanted to frame it as a sponsorship. And im like, “this is an affiliate link… whats going on here that you want me to call you a sponsor?” Interesting you didnt see conversions… Probably a bad landing page. Good to know.

No worries, no links were clicked. I replied to their email asking what their offer is, will just have to wait and see.

Seems legit enough to me then! Worth pursuing more info if you’re interested.

The big problem is that they require SSN for the free trial and people are hesitant to give that out. My channel is now over 120k subs and I’ve made more conversions. I’ve averaged about 2 conversions a month since I started. 500 bucks a month is nice, but nothing compared to what I would charge for a typical ad that long on a video. I just plug in Aura if I don’t have a sponsor for a vid.
