Hidemyass dmca suspension

Why all the sudden am I getting suspension notices from Hidemyass? I’ve been using their services for over a year now and all of the sudden I get two within a week (and none in the past)? I’m downloading the same shows that I KNOW that I would have been receiving a dmca takedown in the past.

Am I being targeted because I’m downloading too much? Will they actually permanently suspend me? How many notices before I’m toast?

I paid for 1 year and still have 8 months left…I think they want to steal my money…

Don’t use HMA for torrenting. They don’t allow it and will suspend you without refund.

HMA is absolute garbage. They are a UK based company, and by UK law they are required to keep logs. You are not anonymous with HMA.

Remember LULZSEC back in 2011? Those guys got caught because they used HMA.

Hidemyass is the worst possible VPN. They’ve been known repeatedly to throw their customers under the bus, and they log everything. They would suck even if they were free.

This subreddit should have a sticky warning everyone against using these assholes.

Read the Lulzsec case and you’ll know why.

Either they started forwarding notices to users, or something changed on your PC that is leaking your address.

If you haven’t already double check you have;

  1. Disabled IPv6
  2. Configured your DNS to something other than your ISP.
  3. You have a kill switch, firewall, or client binding setup.

Get a VPN that’s anonymous and allows torrenting.

Why are they doing this to me now when I’ve done the same thing in the past for a year? Torrenting is the ONLY reason I bought their service.

When did they change their policies? They used to say they didn’t care since they keep no records…

Fuck them…I’m going to tell them to shove their service up their asses.

I agree. They take your money and then point out the fine print.

It’s a scam that needs to be broadcasted.

I believe HMA was always against torrenting. Also, they do keep logs. Look up articles about them.

I’d check TOS before paying next time.

When did they change their policies?

For as long as I remember hearing about them – even before they turned that one guy in, they have not allowed torrenting.

So out of the hundreds of things that I’ve downloaded…it just happens that I got a dmca twice in the last two weeks?

I doubt it…I know at least one of the shows I download I get one every single time…ever since their new updated software…

Sounds like it.

As far as I know HMA has not allowed torrenting for at least several months, when I laast checked their TOS.

I downloaded Tru Blud every single episode and I know every single time that I forgot to use Hidemyass I’d get a dmca takedown letter from my service provider.

I got a notification from Hidemyass for the past two weeks with each episode of True Blood.

There is NO way that I’ve downloaded seasons of Tru Blud in the past two years with no problem and then in the last two weeks get dmca letters from hidemyass for both weeks…with threats of cancellation.

That’s just with Tru Blud. I’ve downloaded hundreds of popular movies with no dmca letters from hidemyass.

There’s no way I didn’t get any takedown notices in the past…the chances of 0.

That’s alright though. I’ve already told them to shove their service up their asses and got another vpn.

I’m not sure why you didn’t get notices – all I know is that they have disallowed torrents in their TOS for a long time. Maybe now they are starting to take action, whereas they used to ignore it.

Yeh, that’s what I’m thinking. Or I sucked up so much bandwidth they want to cut me off.

…or I was marked as a frequent violator.
