How did they detect VPN?

Like it’s remote work, but you can’t work on it during travel.

My guess is it’s a cat and mouse game. They will keep a list of known vpn ip addresses

my best guess is when you first signed up it locates your ip and locks it I’m not sure

VPN detection is provided as a service. For example, IPinfo scans the entire internet to identify IP addresses that behaviorally resemble the usage of VPN or anonymous IP services. There are a number of different methodologies involved in that. They then package the IP addresses and flag them as VPN IPs. Websites and users use the data to determine whether the connecting IP address is a VPN or not. Commercial services are easier to identify, residential proxies are harder but not impossible to identify.

Has anyone successfully bypassed this VPN BS? Pls DM me.

does anyone know if proxies work?

Has anyone looked into Meshnet traffic rerouting or remoting into a laptop based in your home country using something like NoMachine + Meshnet? I don’t understand how that could be detected.

So you can’t travel within the states?

They probably used something like IPQS?

i dont even have a vpn and it still wont let me into the site what do i do?

Hello, I’m kinda new on Reddit and I’ve been working for Outlier for a few weeks now, I’m in Europe and the VPN doesn’t work, I still did some tasks but now I’m afraid they’ll kick me out. I sent an email to the IT team and they told me they were having problems with the VPN outside the US, meanwhile, my QM told me the VPN is a must, I don’t know what to do :frowning:

There are IP list in the market to detect VPN. You can sign up for free API at https://www.ip2location.io for VPN detection feature.

That’s exactly how. It sucks but you gotta follow the rules.

what do people mean by “lock”. ?

How do they identify residential VPNs?

Yes. I have a vpn on router but that didn’t work. The only thing that worked was connecting my personal hot spot to my laptop . I have Nord on my phone :woman_shrugging:t4:

If you wanna chance it but don’t really care about the income. I say try it. But realize you may get kicked off. Just take a break from it and come back when you finish traveling.

That’s terrible. I mean even if I travel within US that’s gonna be a probelm

It doesn’t work like this as I’ve been travelling through the country I registered in. New IP every week or so, no issues.

So that means they’re likely using method suggested elsewhere in this thread. Recognising IPs from commercial VPN pools and acting based on that

If it is a commercial residential proxy service, you are likely sharing it with other users. These patterns can be detected when you run internet-wide scans. For example, deviations in the locations of an IP address could indicate the usage of a residential proxy.
