Edit: Feels bad how a simple question seems to generate such toxicity.
It’s just genuine curiosity, no need for such sarcastic responses and
downvotes
If it’s that simple of a question, then go fucking Google it? I don’t see how this isn’t just an answer Google can’t provide.
In fact, I literally took the 5 seconds to Google “how did Chinese players play Valorant?” and it’s literally the first answer…
Google first, inconvenience of others second. Welcome to the technological era bud.
Chinese players cheat ALOT
Asians aren’t that good as they say they are.
In that case, how much did the official release actually mattered? It would seem like it’s just localisation and better servers?
I do not know if they were allowed to play the game via VPN, or if they could just install the game with no issues but played on other APAC servers. And I also do not know how much of a hassle is it to get a VPN in China, and if it’s worth doing so just to play a game.
If it was China it wouldn’t be counter-strike, it would be crossfire.
being a pro in counter strike doesn’t immediately translate to pro level valorant. You have the raw aim sure, but it still takes a lot of experience to master valorant specific mechanics and gamesense.
My question was more about whether orgs hand picked players from other FPS games, or the players had some sort of (easy) access to the game that I did not know of. Of course I know some CS players could switch to Valorant
People underestimate how the base line skills can transfer between games. Like sure call of duty and crossfire have different mechanics, but you still learn mouse control, crosshair placement, tracking, etc. It’s not like switching between golf and basketball.
most chinese are much richer than american and european so pc shouldnt be an issue
My bad. I thought Reddit is a safe space from the Stack Overflow toxic bs where you have to Google everything before asking instead of having a nice discussion. If you don’t feel like answering it, you don’t have to interact with it.
Asians dominate almost every esport they play that isn’t shooters lol. And they don’t have a history of big shooter esports scene like the west. A korean team still made it to the finals this VCT. You’re an idiot lol.
The release was big enough for China to get its own league. China is the 2nd most populated country in the world. Having official servers means more players and attention overall since people in central China had really bad ping since they couldn’t get a consistent connection and advertisements were basically non-existent since the game technically wasn’t supposed to exist in China.
There were semi pro level games in china long before the game came out officially
Raw aim is like 80% of the game. They have the gamesense from CS as the games use the same type of audio and movement mechanics. So really it’s just learning new maps, and agent abilities. Which honestly isn’t that hard, people have a much harder time learning how to aim properly. I don’t see 800 posts a day about how their UtilLabs routine isn’t helping them climb.
The most common plays for Sova and Raze were made by Sinatraa, a former Overwatch pro.
It doesn’t take a whole lot to approach Valorant if you’ve played other shooters.
I’m an above average CS player and Valorant lobbies are pretty easy for me, albeit I haven’t had the motivation to grind above platinum. Game sense and raw aim alone can get you pretty far, it’s only the way abilities interact that you have to really learn
Well then, probably. Game devs breaking into any comp scene around the world will want good players to show off their game, so having a few pro players get early access and sign an NDA so they don’t talk about it is pretty normal.
How many times have entire Korean teams disbanded and went to China after winning something because the offers cannot be competed with.
