How to get Surfshark VPN to work with Netflix (Solution)

That’s a really common problem with VPN’s, basically what I meant was I just traded one problem for another.

Are you sure you use one of the static IP’s with your OVPN config? Also, I use TCP protocol, not sure if that makes any difference but perhaps worth a punt? And again, regardless of network used, if your device has a GPS receiver, the Netflix client will use that to determine your location, and if you’re not using the Surfshark client that modifies that you will need to find some other way around that problem. Maybe disable/disallow GPS location for the Netflix client if possible.

Surfshark app on both Android tv and Android tablet (as already explained in my op.) I also use same VPN server in a combined transmission-openvpn docker container, so both ways work for me.

I see all TV shows, Netflix original or not. Logically I don’t see how this could be related. If it didn’t work you would get an error message from Netflix telling you to disconnect your VPN. Maybe something to do with your subscription, or the country you’re signed up in, I don’t know. In any case I don’t think it’s related.

I did download the config from Surfshark website. Apple TV 4K does not have a GPS built in. What US server in TCP did you use?

Which config did you use?

Suggest you use one of the us-nyc-st00?.prod.surfshark.com_tcp.ovpn config files. The st for static, 5 to choose from.

I will try to download that. I use Detroit server. I did not check whether it was static ip or not.

Using a static server was the whole point of my post, and as I already explained, only static US Surfshark server is NY.

I found no static IP OpenVPN UDP or TCP configurations from Surfshark site. For now, I am turning off VPN when I access Netflix or Prime Video.

Try harder. The static config files are in the same zip where you got your current config file.

It works! I UDP is faster than TCP for me. I used the nyc st001. Thank you very much! This server is faster than other US servers I tried. It boosted my internet speed by more than twice while running on VPN. I did not download the zipped OpenVPN configuration before. What I did before was download the configuration after searching for the server. I really appreciate it!

Edit: Prime Video works but Netflix does not though. Nevertheless, I am still grateful because NY server is good (low ping, high DL/UL).

What exactly do you mean by Netflix not working? It works fine for me!

I still get an error that goes along the lines of we cannot reach Netflix or something. But if I turn off VPN, then it works.

Sounds more like a router config problem, maybe firewall or DNS.
