I need a good antivirus, currently using norton 360

Best antivirus is having common sense. Ive gin many years with windows defender on my windows installs, and everything else, no antivirus

The one that comes with windows

Buying antivirus software is a waste of money. Your best antivirus is common sense. Those softwares will never be up to date enough to handle viruses because they update too much. Anyone that offers a suggestion of software is an idiot who just does not understand.

Most of the antivirus software I have been using don’t work well ngl

HAHAHAHAHA

Norton is shit. It’s probably the WORST bit of RUBBISH you could ever use.

just looked for rated free av’s and one that was showing up in the top 5
that I don’t see mentioned much is TotalAV, anyone use/know how this
one is for a free av?

I use malwarebytes and it’s fine

Skynet is watching you:joy::joy:

ZoneAlarm or Sophos work well. Both have PC and phone options. A filtered DNS is also very helpful since they help block websites that may contain malware. I recommend CleanBrowsing or Cloudflare For Families.

i think kaspersky is best

This question is constantly asked, and the Russian bots jump on it to push Kaspersky down everyone’s throats (I wonder why?). Numerous western governments have come out against it as a security risk. Why expose yourself to a potential threat when the whole purpose is to protect you? You’re honestly better off sticking with Norton than using Kaspersky.

Windows Defender and a little common sense is all you need. If you need to do deeper scans you can use MalwareBytes.

Windows defender and a brain.

Long time Kaspersky user. Tried Bitdefender and got sick if it pushing ads at me to use their products. Kaspersky has also gotten worse in that regard but nowhere near as bad as Bitdefender. Switched back to Kaspersky. On licenses. Most of the stuff you hear about Kaspersky and it spying on behalf of Russia is heresay and unproven.

So Kaspersky if you want the extra features, MS Defender if you want plain and simple virus / malware protection.

ESET or Malwarebytes
Also, use openDNS

It’s easy peasy, lemon squeezy bro, the one and only quick heal total security. I’ve been using it for the last four years and it has always performed at its best imo.

You read it’s not good? It’s annoying, if you don’t set it up right, sure. As an actual AV solution it’s definitely effective, and as good as any other.

Intrusive? Can be!

Likes to spam you with messages about how it just scanned any program or drive you download or insert to your CP? Absolutely, and it’s a bit annoying.

Is it worse than Bitdefender which does much the same way when it comes to trying to let you know how active and useful it is? Not particularly.

Is it even worth paying for an AV these days, unless you are downloading dodgy pirated software and going to sites you’d be better off not visting? Not particularly.

If you are engaging in risky internet behavior, the you might benefit from some of the features of Norton of the other paid alternatives to Windows Defender.

Otherwise, its not really something you should have to worry about, as you’re not opening dodgy .exe files and over-riding the warnings not to install files with digital signatures that don’t match, etc.

Those things are actual risky behavior, and your AV of choice won’t protect you if you tell it not to just so you can install some cracked software.

If you don’t do that kind of thing, why would you need a paid AV program at all?

Plenty of free software will give you additional browser protection, and even work functionally to keep your PC secure without paying anything.

For most people the inbuilt Windows stuff is plenty.

For PC upgrade to Windows 11 and use the Windows Defender. Use auto updates. Then don’t open unsolicited emails and do not plug in any thumb drives you found in the parking lot.

If you have the budget, an enterprise class Next-Gen AV/XDR like SentinelOne can be an option

No idea for mobile. But for PC the only antivirus you need is windows defender, and the occasional malware bytes scan.

The best antivirus is user awareness. Not downloading and doing virus prone online activities.
