This happens to me sometimes, on the older version I just pull to refresh the servers and it will quick connect right away.
Now, i need to a couple of “Connect”->“Cancel” or “Change Server” to make it randomly connect successfuly.
Sometimes a toast error message from the ProtonVPN its long error message that says “certificate…” something, it disappears quickly so can’t screenshot or read the whole thing.
Got totally banned to connect from Russia recently. Support advice limited to “change protocol”, “switch over the server”. Only thing that works for me was provider VPN replacement. Don’t want to disclose their name as it is only way to update Proton as I pay for Ultimate account. After each update Proton remains active for some time. Until next ban from ISP.
It could be a problem with how your phone is connected or with the limits set by your ISP. One thing you could do is switch to a different service or reset your phone’s network settings. Talking to ProtonVPN support might help fix the problem if that doesn’t work.
Free tiers keep redirecting to japan and usa (both are far away and slow) for a few weeks. I’m tired of reconnecting manually. I’m using probably every single proton product and all of them started to get worse one way or other
Are you using any other VPN, proxy, or custom DNS services/settings on your device?
Which exact version of the Proton VPN app do you have installed?
Do you have any antivirus, firewall, or network monitoring apps installed?
Please contact us using the ‘Report an issue’ option in the app menu with some answers to the above questions so we can have a better understanding of the issue and assist you further. In the meantime, you could try resetting the network settings on your device by following the steps below to see if there are any improvements.
Navigate to your device Settings;
Scroll to and click on either “General management” or “System”, depending on the device;
Click on either the “Reset” or “Reset options” button;
Click the “Reset network settings” option;
You’ll have to confirm that you want to reset your network settings.
Keep in mind that resetting the network might delete all of your saved WiFi networks and passwords stored on your Android device.
My windows device is having issues connecting via proton app. Been like this for almost a week now. I only use it for seeding/torrenting and this is not working now. Stealth or not, just wont work. Sometimes wireguard UDP protocol works but after a while those connections drop too. This I am experiencing after the recent update to windows app I guess.
I have android and iOS where I am using third party apps and they work flawlessly.
When you are disconnected to WIFI, check and see that you have a working Internet connection using your phone carrier. The VPN won’t connect if there is no Internet. I’ve run into this where I have no cell coverage.
