MacOS question: Intego or Bitdefender?

Hi.

I have licenses of both Intego and Bitdefender. But since both are up for renewal I am considering dropping one of them.

As antivirus apps I think they are both OK. Plus for Bitdefender is the possibility to use it on Mac, iOS and iPad OS. Plus for Intego is Netbarrier, which is handy when loggin on to a public wifi.

Bitdefender also has a VPS, but I don’t know if it is worth the money. Since I only use VPN when abroad in order to watch Swedish TV at my hotel room.

Anyway: I know my question is about more than just the antivirus part of the apps, but since I believe they are both equal-ish as antivirus apps for Mac, does anyone have any insight to the rest of the stuff?

Keep Bitdefender, you’ll get better protection and performance. I’ve used it on my Mac for a while and stays silent and out of the way. The Intego Netbarrier is pointless, MacOS has a native firewall already and you can set it to completely stealth all the ports. Just requires turning it on in setting. If you prefer something that pops up and asks there is Lulu that is free and open source from a really good Mac security developer.

Thanks for this and thanks for the links. Yes it seems Bitdefender is at least as good as Intego, and since it also works on my iPhone and iPad I think the smartest thing is to drop Intego. Thanks also for th link to Luku. I guess it does not do much more than work as a sort of interface to Mac Firewal, but since i am the kind of person that feels safer with things that say ”hey, someone wants to chat with your computer, is that OK?” I’ll try that aswell.’
Thanks again, very nice community here . :+1:

i would rather use intego
