Meta AI via VPN

I understand after reading through meta website that the beta AI is only available in the US. I have ordered the glasses and will take about a week for it to be delivered. I’m not from the US but since meta glasses should connect to my phone’s internet. Will switching to US on VPN enable AI features?

Here’s what I did:

  1. Uninstalled the Meta View app

  2. Turned VPN on (Colorado US IP)

  3. Installed Meta View app using a US-based Google Play account

  4. Went through normal setup

  5. Meta AI tab appeared

  6. Tested Meta AI using voice command. It was able to answer some questions.

  7. Turned off VPN and tested Meta AI voice; still worked

  8. Restarted Meta View (without any VPN); Meta AI still worked

  9. Restarted the phone; opened Meta View; Meta AI still worked

The way to go is apparently turning on the US VPN for the initial setup. Switch it on before opening the app for the first time and then complete setup. AI should be working now. You’ll then have to turn off the VPN in order to download and install the software update for the glasses. With any luck the AI should now still be working without the VPN.

I bought mine in the U.S. and AI worked great. When I arrived in the UK, it stopped working quickly with “I can’t do that in your glasses” responses.

Before I upgraded to V1.2 whilst my phone was on a US VPN, and now I have Meta AI back again in the UK.

BUT, NOW I dare NOT turn VPN off.

An annoying trade-off for now whilst I wait.

I personally had to update the glasses during the initial setup, which I wasn’t able to do with a VPN on and that meant that the AI tab didn’t appear after setup (I’m not in the US). I then cleared cache and data of the Meta View app (Android), turned my VPN on and went through the setup again, this time without the forced update and now the AI works fine, even without a VPN connection after the setup

I downloaded the app while connected to a US (New York) VPN. Setup everything while connected to the VPN and verified that the AI was working. Then I disabled the VPN and the feature still works (Canada).

Im in Australia i just got the ai or beta version haha i had to use vpn tho but it works easy

Ray-Ban Meta app is saying to turn off vpn or wi-fi to import pictures. Both are off but app error message remains. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling and this did not fix the issue. Anybody have an idea how to fix this issue?

Does it still work to use AI if my meta glasses is not purchased in the states? Just do the VPN trick to set up is okay ?

Worked perfectly using the app store from the US with a VPN pointed to the states. I live in Ireland.

Has any one figured a way to get this look and see working yet guys in the UK cannot understand why we cannot get it, all online stuff i am reading is saying the same use vpn and i have reset factory reset reinstalled uninstaled over an over and even when i am in usa on vpn it says not in your region am i missing some thing here

This is what I did and worked flawlessly while being outside of US.

  1. Enable VPN with any US city, I chose NYC with Surfshark VPN.
  2. Installed meta view app from US apple account.
  3. Connected my glasses with meta view app and proceeded with setup and update
  4. Meta AI tab is enabled
  5. Changed my location from US to London, UK on VPN and meta AI tab is still enabled.
  6. Restarted phone and disabled location privacy for meta view app and meta ai tab is still working.
    PS : I was having issues with glasses not getting detected by Instagram and chatting with support I understood its geo fenced. Which is why I disabled location sharing with meta view app and can now connect to Instagram livestream

From Philippines here. Just got my ray ban meta. I’m using iphone, downloaded vpn and I can’t change the location on App store due to payment restrictions. Any suggestions on how to download the Meta View App?

Bonjour j’ai suivi votre prochedurejai le pictogramme ia sur mon appli méta mais ça ne fonctionne pas comment dois je faire sachant que j’avais déjà installé méta vie, et que je l’ai de s’installe ensuite j’ai activé le vpn puis j’ai réinstalle méta view reconfigure mon application et j’ai autorisé la localisation exacte… Je ne comprend pas pourquoi ça ne fonctionne pas je suis en France et un youtubeur français la fait je ne comprend pas que ça ne marche pas chez moi mer i pour ton aide

Thank you for these steps. I was able to set up my pair with no issues and retained use of AI. Working with no issues in Trinidad and Tobago. This coupled with the option of using ChatGPT has me excited.

Followed these but no go. Am in Australia. Do I need to remove all my other google accounts from the play store? Everytime I download the Meta View I only get the Australian version
I’m on Android…

hey there unfortunatly this didnt work for me.

i couldnt change the country of my google play store so i used an apk instead… unfortunatly it didnt work.

any suggestions?
