There are thousands of posts about this incident in CN community yesterday. As you may know, for any published mobage there would be a big trade market for rerolls in China and Mihoyo used to have a harsh view toward it, so naturally most of the banned accounts are traded accounts. But some players also report their own rerolled 5* accounts banned, without cheat(to accelerate the process), trade , IP change or anything suspicious, and verified but useless replies from Customer Service. To add, payment and binding to a phone number won’t make a difference.
For the information I collected, it’s a pretty strict policy and the funnies part is that Mihoyo only bans the rerolled account with 5*, even Cheated Engined account won’t be banned if there are only 4*s. As a conclusion, these tips may help to avoid the ban.
Don’t buy rerolled 5* account from others. It’s basically a Russian roulette.
Don’t exchange or share rerolled 5* account to friends. Clarification: IP/MAC address/device change won’t matter if you play normally, but it’s a feature dimension when they detect account trading.
Don’t use dead mail, anon mail or abnormal mail to register, likely to get the ban. Clarification: The case may be different in GOBAL, as long as it’s a normally registered email it would be ok I assume. In CN posts many are buying random email accounts from TAOBAO to register and get a ‘abnormal data’ ban.
Of course, don’t use Cheat Engine or abnormal methods to accelerate the reroll process.
If you have rerolled multiple 5* accounts, play all the accounts that you want to remain. It’s possibly that the inactive (for 24 hours or so) 5* account would be banned and the reason would be ‘account trade’. (It’s kinda absurd but actually happening.)
Edited: Sorry for my written-up. I have added some clarification in Tip 2 and 3 according to the replies.
There are three kinds of ban notification, ‘account trade’ as I mentioned, ‘third-party software’ basically cheats, and ‘abnormal data’, some CN people are attributing it to emails bought from Taobao or dead mails. Nobody knows the detail so better to use a normally registered mail.
I’m more surprised about the fact that Cheat Engine works in this game. That means they’re storing key info on your side and not on the server’s side. That’s a crappy system.
Most of them fall into either of the two categories:
Purchased accounts from others.
Rerolled accounts with 5-stars characters which the player stopped playing on for an unknown amount of time.
For the second category, the reason why these “players” stopped playing on those rerolled accounts that already have five star character(s), is mostly that they went on to further reroll for more accounts with 5-star characters. At this point you probably have realized that a lot of these so-called players are actually account sellers. So, big yikes.
On the other hand, it’s granted that there can be some mistakes. For instance, some players may stopped playing on their rerolled accounts because they want to take a long rest, or some players are simply unsatisfied with the five star character they managed to acquire.
Finally, a reminder of the subreddit rule 4:
Account trading, commercial promotion, and any forms of activities that involve virtual or real-life monetary transactions are strictly prohibited in this subreddit and will subject the poster to permanent ban.
its kinda abnomal, since mihoyo has never done such massive account ban on reroll accounts in hi3. The only reason that i could think of is that too many account seller made tons of reroll account tried to take advantage of this newely released game. According to the player id i saw, it’s been created based on the time you create your accout, there’s over 1m ppl registered for this game already by the end of the first day… How many of them do you think they are rerolled account…
Btw there’s already account seller publishing videos about “farming and making money from this game” a couple days before it’s release… So yea, account sellers are pretty crazy about this game.
Part of me finds this so fascinating. Gatcha system kinda begs to be exploited. It will be really interesting how the West will handle this. Because make no mistake, a storm will come very soon. And depending how things get handled, this game might actually be hated alot. Especially, once people realise they arnt getting into endgame content or abyss groups without certain 5* char/weapons.
I think for the most part people should not be concerned.
I’m an OBT player and Verita’s comment lines up with stuff I’ve heard through the grapevines. Basically MHY is cracking down on RMT and it has some real no-fucks-given collateral damage for rerollers, but only if you behave like an account seller.
From MHY’s perspective, no one’s selling/buying 4* accounts so it’s focused on accounts with 5*s. It’s also only focused on these accounts with a lot of dead time because it assumes that if you reroll out a 5* and just leaves it there unplayed, you’re likely to be engaged in account selling. This is obviously going to be over-inclusive, but MHY’s really going scorched earth here and its customer reps have been basically like “too bad so sad” to people who’ve complained.
The best thing to do is to go about your rerolling and then just commit to the account you like by playing it as soon as possible. So far there’s been no report afaIk that someone who rerolled and played on it has caught a ban.
And that is why this point by the OP probably requires a bit of clarification:
Don’t use dead mail, anon mail or abnormal mail to register, highly likely to get the ban.
There have been rerollers who were able to keep their accounts and I highly, highly doubt they all created a brand new email for each reroll. Basically, any functional email should not become subject of the MHY net.
Of course, there’s always a chance MHY goes even further for the global launch and screws even MHY accounts created from “salted” emails. It’s tough to say but I for one will probably simply drop the game if MHY just bodies all rerollers. It would be too much player goodwill burned for me to have confidence in their continuing stewardship of the game.
Thanks for the heads up. I was gonna make more emails to pre-register but I guess there’s no point now because of number 5. Guess I’ll play the game normally and spend money if ever I have some on me.
Well, personally I will reroll no matter what until I get a 5* (any 5*). If MHY wants to ban me, then I will thank them for saving me hundreds of dollars down the road
damn, I understand going after resellers but the majority of players just want to reroll their 10 mails to try and get an desirable 5*, and doing that requires signing up over and over and spending time in-game for hours, days on repeat.
If they are that dedicated and go that far for this game (which is more and more being shrouded in uncertainty), then they should at least not be punished for trying get a decent result. After all, the system is built on chances, and like it or not, Mihoyo needs to accept that outside of CN the majority won’t be big spenders but f2p players, who as usual will be the most vocal group when it comes to promoting or crushing a game over a long period of time.
Therfore this game of chances should provide reasonable options for them as well instead of nerfing free content and now even potentially banning rerolls…
Why shoot yourself in the foot? your global release is around the corner and all you need to do is stand still, look good, and let social media and good feedback carry your game to new heights.
Now it’s probably gonna be a 6 from IGN and similar "+ Great exploration, engaging battle system, fantastic music and voice acting, consistently unique and charming characters
abyssmal gacha rates and loot progression which doesn’t give f2p players an alternative to translate their invested time fairly and effectively"
I can understand banning bought accounts but rerolled ones seem like a weird move. Its not their first gacha, they should know tons of people will reroll, even more so at launch. There’s nothing wrong with it.
Its funny that they will allow an account to stay with Cheat Engine even if you rolled 4* and for sure they know about it as well since the kernel anti-cheat will pick up the process and report it back to mihoyo hq. I smell some hypocrisy. Tuning/Cheating your rolls to get max 4* const is still wack.
