Mozilla VPN Price Increasing Soon - $4.99 option going away.

FFS just promote Mullvad at this point and collect a commission

Just got this email.

If you sign up now, it locks in the $4.99 month to month price.

It’ll be interesting to see how they change the pricing, considering Mullvad VPN (what Mozilla is repacking as Mozilla VPN, but Mullvad has more options in settings) is only about ~$1 more expensive in USD.

I don’t care, they never showed up in my country. In the beginning there was such a big commotion and ended as usual, same crap everywhere.

I used it for a while, but everything about it was inferior to the Mullvad experience so I switched back. As much as I wanted to support Mozilla the app just felt half-baked.

Also the biggest bug was the lack of an auto-reconnect when service was lost, and a lack of notification as well.

I emailed support and they said they hoped to fix it in the future… That seems like a day 1 required feature to me. Having my phone go silent for 3 hours because I didn’t realize my VPN connection was dead was unacceptable, and happened to me at least a half-dozen times in the span of a few months.

increasing the price without delivering the product? nice!

I would seriously consider it or mullavad if its service is proven to be reliable in China.

Did they ever say that it was limited? If not, I really hope it doesn’t mean bad news for the VPN.

Never used Mozilla because the Android app is subpar and the mullvad app works well with split tunneling. Don’t reinvent the wheel right

As much as I would like to encourage Mozilla, I don’t want to encourage a bad product. I would rather pay for Mullvad and donate to Mozilla on the side. No point in making them think that their current offering is good.

As much as I like Mozilla’s products, Mozilla VPN is a very qustionable investment. It’s buggy, slow, unreliable, sometimes hard to install, constantly logs off, doesn’t work with video streaming services, unavailable in many countries, and at the same time not even cheap.

The only reason to keep a subscription for me was to support the company behind it.

After using it for several months I switched to >!NordVPN!< and never looked back.

UPD: added global availability

Just don’t use Mozilla VPN or any other VPN provider that requires an app. That’s crazy and foolish. Mozilla with their bubbly browser and now VPN are just catering to the dumb non tech people. Don’t fall into their nonsense and let this kind of shit backfire on them.

They should stop bothering with this and just create or acquire a webhost.

A lot of folks would buy into flexibly priced hosting for blogs (like tumbler, wordpress.com, vanilla), communities, lite video sharing or even entreprise-tier plans (at least 100+ dollars/month per client).

Maybe I’m missing it, but … is there not a yearly payment option to save a few bucks?

When will we get it in countries where we really need it? Russia, Turkey, India etc?

Does anyone knows how to use it with Fedora? I know that there is a readme file to compile it but I am not technical savvy. Is there a guidance for dummies?

But $4.99 was a rip off for only 5 devices. They even block torrenting.

Isn’t it about the same price if you pay in crypto?

isn’t mullvad at 5$ ?

Same in my country. Firefox Relay hasn’t seen much progress either.
