I downloaded a mod for Half-Life 2 from the website ModDB and used BitTorrent to torrent it. This was my first ever time using a torrenter. I move the mod to the directory it needs to go into, go into the files and attempt to open the installer. Upon doing so I get two popups: one of them looks like an actual Windows popup, warning me that “Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software.” The other was from RAV Endpoint Protection, an antivirus which I don’t remember installing, saying that a suspicious process had been detected and blocked. I was worried by both of these for different reasons, so I went to my settings and used Windows Defender to do a quick scan of all my files. It told me that there were no threats detected. I’m now worried about using my PC because I can’t tell if I have a virus or not. For all I know, RAV could be the virus it claims to have blocked. What do I do?

run a malwarebytes scan
o follow the guide in the comments. or alternatively type in MALWAREBYTES into google install the program run a scan and if there is anything dodgy as in viruses on your device then it will find them and delete them
This worked, thank you. MalwareBytes found 10 threatening files which were all linked to my torrenter. Quarantined them all and the torrenter was deleted along with them. I also uninstalled the RAV “antivirus” and a bunch of other programs linked to it like a VPN that I also don’t remember downloading as well as the HL2 mod I torrented. Did two more scans with Windows Defender and MalwareBytes just to be safe and neither detected anything.
