Netflix can now tell if you are using a VPN or not… GG weebs
Now? Dude they’ve been doing it for years
Netflix themselves don’t care whether you use a VPN or not, as long as you’re using their site. It’s the media companies who own the film’s and TV shows who care about the distribution rights in different countries. For a long time Netflix didn’t bother blocking as it didn’t bother them, but they’re coming under more and more legal pressure from the studios to do it, so they’re kind of forced to now.
It’s a game of cat and mouse, the VPN I pay for still works with Netflix, but I had to switch to a new one last year as my old one was blocked
Now, to be a bit fair… Not that i’m condoning what netflix done because locking content from countries for whatever reason is a bit sucky but…
Let’s face it… Nowadays VPNs are promoting themselves by using the argument of “Hey, if you use us you can completely bypass Netflix’s region block and watch whatever thing you want because gosh darn it is so easy to fool them by using our VPN!”
I guess netflix just got pissed off and decided to shut them up.
They have actually done this over a year and some VPNs (they all cost money though) can get around it. It depends on the specific VPN you are using
#HA-HA, YARRR IT IS!
Switches from pirate site to pirate site because translation and other issues take time for legal stuff to come in time, while pirate sites work almost instantly.
here mangas on Netflix are usually in Japanese with subtitles in German. I need to connect to an English speaking country to have EN subtitles on the same show. Why Netflix, why??
How to get people to pirate media
Step one:
You can’t blame Netflix for this. This is mostly on publishers doing country based licensing conditions and pricing. Netflix can get sued for not taking steps against this.
Pirates: i missed the part where thats my problem
What are you talking about? They’ve been doing this for ages. If you aren’t with a shitty VPN change your server and the VPN can change the servers that were found out.
The point of a VPN is to encrypt and change your IP addresses and other important information from attackers. Yeah watching videos and Netflix movies are nice, but I feel like people only know that VPN changes movies for Netflix.
VPN ads : you get acces to Netflix’s worldwide catalogue !
Reality :
It’s been the case for some time and I can’t believe they’re still using it as a marketing argument. But ads aside, Netflix is kinda right. Their contracts involves certain regions and not others. They could get in trouble.
Why does it make a difference to them? We still pay the same for the subscription.
This is a bummer man
Reason 3477 that piracy wins again
Oh no! Anyway
