News and Updates Thread - April 29, 2024

Welcome to the daily discussion thread!

Please post topics for discussion here. While some questions can be used to start a discussion/debate, most questions belong in the question thread unless you love getting downvotes (if that link doesn’t work for you for some reason, the question thread is always the first post on our community’s front page). If your discussion is about manufactured spending, there’s a thread for that. If you have a simple data point to share, there’s a thread for that too.

Please reply to this comment with any Amex Offers, Chase Offers, increased cash back portal payouts, or similar deals. Do not post them as a top level comment.

Reminder that many SimplyMiles offers are ending tomorrow. If you’re not sure what’s good, I would highlight the grocery stores like Kroger, inKind, and Amazon as being fairly low-effort ones that might go away. There are always wine and retail deals, so no rush there.

Amex Platinum is offering a 175k SUB for personal cc. It’s tricky to find but I was eventually able to locate the offer a few hours ago by searching in incognito mode on the Edge browser. Apparently using a VPN helped yield success for some folks in this DoC thread Hopefully this is what someone here has been waiting for!

A new referral thread is now live: Chase Ink Unlimited

DOC reported that Chase has added PYB to Disney cards. You can now redeem points for 1¢ per point on the following purchases:

https://dailygetaways.ustravel.org/ were very competitive today with Choice points offered at

  • 55k/$285 0.51cpp
  • 42k/$220 0.52cpp
  • 28k/$155 0.55cpp
  • 14k/$84 0.6cpp

The 55k and 42k were grabbable if you bought immediately at release. I managed to snag a 55k at release, 14k at 7 minutes out, and another 28k at 11 minutes out. The scarcity makes Citi TYP more valuable.

I’m sure by now all of the Choice points are sold out through Daily Getaways.

Just a reminder to double check the points rates on any peak bookings you’ve made so far.

I had a two night stay in a peak season location which points cost dropped from 35k a night to 16k a night.

So double check any Choice bookings you might have currently.

Anybody catching that 300k/20k Biz Plat bonus? I can consistently get the 250k, but I don’t want to pull the trigger until I’ve made every effort to pull the 300k

Does anyone have any additional bonus links for the Korean airlines skypass Visa card? I saw an offer for 20k miles for $1k spend on their blue card, but I lost the link. Also curious if there’s any additional bonus offers for the signature or select cards.

Dell back up to 10% on Rakuten

I’ve noticed since the interface change that offers are doubled, X + X miles. It looks like these are actually double and not just the same amount as before presented as doubled.

For instance Blue Apron showing 1200 + 1200 miles, where in my history I see a previous offer I did at just 1200 miles. The EA+ one could be interesting with this, 9300 (4650+4650) LP for $209.

Not really sure why Chase UR does anything for PYB at 1 cpp since anything you want can be 1 cpp with cashout.

I’m tempted to get the Disney card for the 10% back since I’m going to Disneyland next month. That 10% off will probably net me like $5k

I want to put a /s at the end of this comment, but I don’t know if I’m being sarcastic or not…

I bought 165k. I just kept clicking “buy” and after a while it lets you access more due to expired carts.

Edit: make that 220k now

Seems like every year this sale gets more brutal, as it gets talked about more.

I got in on the 55k purchase, then fucked up because they DON’T take VGC/MC GCs… have to use a regular credit card, so I got booted back and lost my placeholder.

Four windows open, clicking the different offers, hoping to get anything.

Managed to get three 28k, and two 14k offers.

So 112k points for $633 at .56 cents per point.

The main reason to buy is the slow slog it takes to accumulate Choice points… even through Citi.

112k points gained from a 1:2 Citi Premier is 56k TYP…

Even using Custom Cashes, it would mean spending $933 a month on CCs for a whole YEAR to get those points.

How do you know when these are released? Want to track for future purchase. You did well!

They sold out almost instantly!

Not the place for this, but US Bank Korean Air (KE) SKYPASS Credit Card Review - US Credit Card Guide

Plastiq… FYIi don’t think you’re using that term correctly. These types of companies charge a fee for the check delivery service, working as an intermediary. Not a cash advance
