A few days ago, we had a bad storm and it took out my personal wifi modem (Netgear Nighthawk wifi modem), so I had to get a replacement from Comcast, till I can afford to buy one; they gave me the XB7.
Now my service keeps dropping back to back to back. It will drop then come back on, then drop again a few minutes or seconds later. I know it’s not my internet, because if I turn off PIA, when my service drops, the service comes right back on.
I have uninstalled / reinstated PIA, just to make sure that I have an updated clean install and the issue still persists.
I don’t have Comcast, but I ran into a similar problem when I changed modems. I found that switching between UDP and TCP was the culprit. My new modem would always drop the connection when the Tunnel Protocol was set to UDP. Switched to TCP and the connection was much more stable.
Try setting to use small packets? Check with your ISP about the optimal MTU? Maybe try to adjust on your router if it’s between your devices and your modem?
Yeah, it’s getting to the point that I can’t use the internet, it drops so much, then I need to disconnect / reconnect for it to work, over and over. At this point, I can’t use PIA.
I don’t use it too often on my cell (Nokia X100 / A11), so not sure if it doing it or not. Regardless, this is unacceptable. After my subscription is up, I’m going to find another VPN provider, because this isn’t the first issue I’ve had with PIA.
My subscription expired already, but I have 1 free month coming, which I’m now using, so after this, I’m going to give NordVPN a try. I’m over PIA’s malarkey.
