So I recently installed Utorrent to download some movies and some software, but I found stuff that appeared on my pc after a restart, such as avg safer browsing, rav antivirus/vpn, mcaffee adisor, etc. I only need utorent and nothing else. Also, for some reason, I get a message on startup from windows saying the Windows security center is disabled, please activate it. But if I try to do so it says that it failed. Also, Windows defender dissapeard from the control panel settings (I use norton btw). Is there a proper way to fix all of this? I’m on W11 home edition x64.
Uninstall uTorrent and get Qbittorrent. It’s the same thing but open source and not bundled with malware/bloat
Frankly speaking, I find those “I downloaded and installed malware on purpose but now my PC is not working as supposed anymore”-posts hilarious.
Welcome to annoying part of the freedom of PC. Better learn to read carefully EVERY message/window contents that appear on screen.
When you were installing uTorrent, you were presented a screen where you could decline installation of additional applications at the same time as uTorrent itself.
BTW: These applications are bloatware, not malware (as others incorrectly call them). They are annoying in that they may display ads urging you to pay for their full versions but otherwise are pretty benign.
Just uninstall them in the Software/Control Panel.
Will this get rid of all the viruses it installed?
Yea I didnt read them I just accepted and clicked next, thats why. I should pay more attention next time
No, you’ll probably have to hunt those down on your own, but it will stop it from “updating” and adding more.
