Should I Get A Proton Mail Subscription?

What are some of the features that are included in all the subscriptions? I’m thinking of upgrading. How many of you guys are currently using a subscription? Which one should I get if I do decide to pay for a Yearly or Monthly Subscription?

Black Friday deals are there.

ProtonMail: Private & Secure Email Account with Proton Mail | Proton

ProtonVPN: Proton VPN

Proton Drive: Proton Drive: Free secure cloud storage | Proton

Proton Pass: Proton Pass - Fast and secure login on any device | Proton

12 months or 24 months would be more ideal if you think you can commit for the long term.

Black Friday deals are only available for 12-month plans. You can consider a 24-month plan after the 12-month Black Friday plan expires, or you can wait for another Black Friday sale if you want to upgrade to a higher plan.

I’ve been a customer since 2016, and now host my domain accounts on there. I use pass, but also maintain an off-line copy via my locally hosted Bitwarden service. Overall, in the time I have been a customer I have been largely happy. In the early aughts, it was slightly painful to adjust to a non-google environment, but over the years they incorporated more and more features that made it more comparable. I have been entirely off “free” services since about 2018 with no regrets, it is a good service, all things considered.

I’ll make this quick: Yes.

As someone who switched to Proton two months ago: no.

Why? The apps are all buggy. Support doesn’t do anything helpful. I previously had other products for cloud, VPN, mail, etc.
Since Proton, I realized that there is a possibilty such products cannot work flawlessly in 2024.
Only pass works as it should and SimpleLogin is great.
But there are equally good alternatives for Pass like Bitwarden and much better alternatives for the rest like Tuta, mailbox, Tresorit, Mullvad,…

Black Friday deals should be releasing within the next couple of weeks as well

i only went with the “mail plus” tier since i won’t use the other services and it sounds like a lot of them are kind of half baked. i mainly subscribed for the custom domain use

I don’t know. Should you?

Yes, unlimited annual renewal

I started with the free Proton Mail, but found it too limited - max 3 folders and 3 labels. I was also after a Password Manager, so ended up with the Unlimited Package which included Mail/Pass/Drive/Calendar/VPN for US$7.99 per month (24 mths), with the bonus being the price stays the same on renewals.

For sure get one, depends on situation. Do you need additional users, data etc…currently on 2 year plan

I need a mail plan with like 10 custom domains, any deal ?

Is there or will there be a Black Friday deal for the Proton Duo plan?

So say I buy the 12 month BF deal, can I buy the same 12 month BF deal the next year to reup?

I’ll add a bit more: plus and simple login are the only services worth if you don’t need a vpn. The rest are half baked filler
that will make you angry because they are overpriced junk packaged like premium products.

It all works great for me, has been for over a year now. I had a minor issue with Drive (on MacOS), support responded rather quickly

The Proton Duo plan is currently on sale, and you can lock in the price forever as long as you don’t change the plan. In my opinion, this is better than the Black Friday deal, which only lasts for 12 months before reverting to the regular price.

For the Proton Duo plan, simply log into your account and upgrade. I think the 24-month option is ideal.

Nope, as far as I know, the Proton Black Friday sale is only available for new users who have never subscribed to a paid plan before. However, you can get the Black Friday discount again if you upgrade your plan during the next Black Friday sale, for instance, from Mail Plus to Unlimited.

I’m simply missing too many features (hello content search in mails) and I keep having pm.me-address rejected (3 times now in 2 months). I also regularly have problems with Drive (Files cannot be uploaded, folders appear twice in some Drive apps and not at all in others, …) and VPN (several sites won’t let me on with the VPN, no problems with Mullvad here - Netshield is already deactivated). Support also responds quickly to me, but not with solutions, only with “we have passed on the feedback”.

I don’t want to say that everything is completely crap (expect for drive, this thing is crap - Calender is just so bad that I’ve never tried it), but if you just want a solution that works “as usual”, too much is missing/buggy here.

Thanks for the info!
