Synology behind VPN but "messes" up Plex connection

Hey, need a quick piece of advice on running Plex on a DS424+ through NordVPN. (This is prolly more of a networking question than anything, but figured it is better placed here than in r/PleX )

I’m running a native Plex-server on a 192.168.1.0/24 network and for various reasons I want my NAS on a VPN but when I connect/activate NordVPN in the Network Interface tab it obviously (?) creates a 10.8.2.0/24 subnet. However, this renders the Plex server only being accessible *indirectly*… not what I want.

Is it possible to add some trickery to my routes, preferably through the quickconnect GUI, making both VPN and direct Plex server access possible?

Not sure if it’s the case, but if you wanted your NAS behind a VPN… so that you can be super secure while torrenting Linux ISOs…, you can setup a qbittorrent with GlueTun VM which can specifically use your Nordvpn VPN.

NordVPN doesn’t support port-forwarding, so you will always only be accessible indirectly.

Solution: Use a VPN provider that supports static port forwarding.
