Thoughts on Cyberghost VPN?

What is the general consensus on Cyberghost VPN?

I’m using the free trial and so far it has been great, it gets about 80% the dl speed on torrents as I would without (on a fairly crowded server). I saw they had a special for $7 for 1 year of service (so I could connect to less crowded servers) but a few things are sketchy. It wants either credit card or Paypal, I’m not sure how they log this or if they tie it to my traffic. I’m also not sure how trustworthy they are for general traffic logging as well.

At such an amazing price, I would just do it. If I didn’t have so much time left on my PIA sub, I would defiantly buy Cyberghost. If anyone has any reliability ratings on it, I would love to hear it. Is it safer than PIA?

That’s an great price! My annual sub to PIA is almost up, so this is something for me to consider. Anyone use cyberghost? If it’s half as good as PIA, then it’s worth it. I am kinda weary on their US servers though, they seem to be focusing more on European servers.

They refused to honor a one year subscription I bought on a sale because I tried to activate it a few days too late (even though much less than 1 year had passed) so personally I say screw them.

Where is that deal? According to here, they do not log.

now they’re doing a $15/year promotion called Snowden Edition.

EDIT: 21 AUGUST 2014 - Why iis Netherlands no longer a connection option?

My main problem is that CyberGhost uses dynamic and not shared IP’s, making associating an individual with an IP address trivially easy…

Please write at [email protected] with the title For the Social Media Manager and explain your problem. I’m sure there is a misunderstanding there  Cheers!

That sucks, by any chance were you refunded, or possibly you no longer qualified for one anymore?

$7 deal is here

That kinda defeats the purpose of it, I think I’ll just go for PIA or another alternative then.

Nope, no refund. The only thing wrong was that the activation period had ended. I wouldn’t even have minded them cutting my 1 year period short by the amount of days I would have if I had activated on the last possible day, because it would mean still about 11 months of service.

I’ll be glad to copy paste emails if anyone wants. I distinctively recall my last one,

“Fuck you”.

Any idea why I’m getting payment not authorized on their cleverbridge thing?

Wow!

Please send me a copy of the email exchange. I have at least one 12M subscriptions somewhere I purchased some time last year. This is going to sting if I can’t activate it. That was why I purchased it in the first place, given I was under the impression there was no deadline attached to them, even after reading several threads on their forum and faq statement.

If you bought a regular CyberGhost activation code (Premium, Premium Plus or certain Special Editions) it will be valid for the rest of the current universe’s time stream. You don’t have to use it right away. However, some Special Editions might be equipped with a time frame, in which the code has to be activated. In any given case this date will be shown explicitly.

I know mine isn’t a Special Editions one, just a regular one that was on sale. I will definitely follow this up.

No idea, I haven’t purchased it yet, sorry.

Please write at [email protected] and the tech team will help you kindly. Cheers!

Just checked… a bit anti-climatic really, it was just one quick exchange:

I took to long to activate my promotion and it expired. My account username

Your product key:

Can’t you activate this promotion manually for my account?

And they replied:

And you already know what I replied then!

So, yeah, it expired and I knew it, I just can’t endorse this “sucks for you, we’ll just keep your money” attitude.

That’s terrible customer service.
Thanks for the posts, I will definitely follow it up.
