Use Synology NAS for VPN gateway?

Hi.

I’m using VPN service named ExpressVPN because some of service I’m using is not allowed from my country.

But ExpressVPN allows only 5 clients to connect in same time. I have to use over 5 clients.

Therefore, I’m planning to use Synology NAS for gateway of VPN server.

My plan is like this.

  1. Use ExpressVPN on Synology Server on independent Ethernet connection(<<important)
  2. Set VPN Server that uses ethernet connection made at 1.
  3. Other clients use openVPN client app and use Synology NAS’s VPN server so finally I’m using only 1 of ExpressVPN client number.

However, I don’t want other app in my NAS use VPN. Just VPN server use ExpressVPN’s VPN. So I want to make independent Ethernet connection like virtual connection(I don’t know what to say this)

I considered to make VDSM and use VPN server in there but it makes too much of overhead for my NAS system so I think it’s not a good idea.

Is there another good idea for solve it?

If you can set up a vpn client on your router that might be a better option… maybe?

I’m using a debian vm to route all my traffic through a specific lan ip as a gateway to the vpn. But a docker image to do this would be nice

This is a task for your router
