Vpn location not right

I recently got the proton vpn plus plan and was using some servers in Sweden which were working great, about 40ms ping with around 70mbps, then later on in the day the speed dropped suddenly and now all the Sweden servers for me have a 20-30mpbs speed with ping over 100 some 200, when i checked as well all the IP’s say they’re located in Switzerland now and not Sweden for some reason.

I went and used some other servers which im getting great speeds on as well, I was just wondering what happened to the servers in Sweden all of a sudden?

This is a problem with the geolocation database you are checking against. It happens from time to time because the geolocation databases get confused since the IP addresses of all secure core servers, belong to ProtonVPN AG, which is a Swiss corporation. If you send support the link of the db you are using to check, we can try to force an update from their side. Proton VPN - Support Form | Proton VPN

Ah I see. Yeah I emailed support about it last Friday but haven’t heard anything, thats why I thought id post it on here.

I was using speedtest.net and whoer.net. I tried the site you mentioned and I see what you mean, looks like the others geolocation is wrong.

You’re quite right about this, but Google will locate me in Ukraine and shows me Google Ukraine. Problem is that certain security software (F-secure) blocks lots of internet traffic because of this location ‘problem’.
I’ve asked ProtonVPN support various time, but they have not answered yet.
FYI: in the ProtonVPN cliënt dont use nodes #9 - #15 and you won’t encounter this problem!

Funny how Google thinks I’m located in Ukraine even though the server is located in Amsterdam.

consider checking iplocation.net which will check the location information against a number of different IP location databases. There you will see that some are showing the Sweden (true) while others are registered to Switzerland (false).
