Vpn says connected but I can't open any sites

Hi everyone, so for the past week I had this issue with my Nord vpn on my PC (WINDOWS 10), when I try to connect it the app says connected but I can’t open any sites, when I try to open something it says :
Unable to connect
An error occured during a connection to (website’s name)
.The site could be temporary unavailable
.if you are unable to load any pages check your computer network connection
.if your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy make sure that firewall is permitted to access the web
That is the error I get
I tried flushing the DNS, uninstalling and reinstalling the vpn client, changing proxy settings and those didn’t work.
I used both Firefox and Google chrome and got the same result.
However when I used a different vpn everything works just fine, I am connected no problem what so ever.
I tried speedify free client and cyberghost vpn extension for both my web browsers and I am connected, I can’t connect using the Nord vpn that’s all.
Ps. Not sure if this is relevant but I also use the Nord vpn on my Android phone and it works perfectly it just doesn’t work on my PC.
so I was wondering anyone else had a similar issue or anyone knows how can I fix this ?

That happens to me too. It could be your ISP doesn’t like NordVPN. Switch from the nordlynx connection to openvpn, switch to another country, or use the doublevpn setting.

Also, try the TOR browser. It’s the only web browser that works for me when nord is on.

Firefox, Chrome, ie, opera, all give me the same error you reported.

I had something similar this week and weirdly restoring Windows firewall to default settings solved it… might be worth a go

The openVPN option is disabled for me for some reason , any idea how can I enable it ?

How do you switch from nordlynx to openvpn?

Don’t know. Have you tried the other options I mentioned? If you really have to browse with your VPN, use the TOR browser.

I think you need to disable an option that automatically chooses the protocol for you and the you get the choice between nordlynx, openvpn (tcp) and openvpn (udp).

I have been having a similar problem. At first I have Internet connection but after 5 minutes or so I get either that I have no Internet or that there is a problem with the dns. I have yet to try in a restricted network if the openvpn protocol solves the issue, but so far at home it is working much slowlier (downloads don’t get pas 3-5 mb/s VS 18 mb/s pretty stable) but at least it works

Dude that actually worked!!! I still wasn’t able to change the protocol by default so I set it to use openVPN protocol while auto connecting to my network.

You need to go to the connection settings. There you have the option to letting nordvpn choose the protocol for you (I think it is toggled by default) and if you deactivate it you can choose between the 3 protocols.

Honestly, I don’t know if this could solve the problem, but in my case it seems to work, even if the connection becomes much slower
