Avoid using app-based vpn. Most app-based vpn found on appstore are dev-ed by Chinese. And they normally check your geolocation and ban usage of that app if you’re in mainland china. Instead, use shadowrocket/clash/v2ray + sub link from ur vpn provider.
I had been banned last year too, but I think I know the reason. It’s because of the data you use. If you use Let’s to download a video game, or to download a big file, their AI may detect you as a potential danger… When I talked to the service, with an another account, they say it was unlimited, but when I talked about banned accounts, they said it was in fact not unlimited, but as long as you use it in a normal way, like watching videos on youtube or stuff, it’s ok, you are safe. But if suddenly you want to download a huge video game, then you may be banned by the AI. When I was banned, I just downloaded some movies and collections (Conjuring) so big files (more than 70gb). So remember this, watching videos and streaming is ok, playing online is ok (I did it for almost a year), but downloading big files forget it. Also, the issue is I don’t know what is the limit. Like a file of 3gb in 5 minutes is a danger ? Or only big files like 70gb in 20-25 minutes… I don’t know.

ive been in china for about a week. Letsvpn works fine so far on hotels wifi. Good speed too.

confimed scam. Recently renewed account and was literally just streaming a movie and suddenly says my account is expired and poped up suspicious activity. Obviously no way to contact anyone at the company either.
Same, tried for 5 days, then downloaded COD Blackops 6 (huge 230GB) and it permanently banned my devices, spoke to an agent on the online support, says nothing they can do the AI detected something. Also, later on I clicked on the '‘what to do support link’ and it does state a reason for a block : - Lead to a high long-term occupancy rate of network exceeding the system threshold. So it’s written somewhere in their shitty secretive policy
The same happened to me. When used week by week, it was fine. Once I paid for a year, they scammed me immediately terminating my account and all 357 days left. It’s unimaginable that they do this with no shame.
UPD.: the payment was done even less than 7 days. They agreed to refund me 99% of the sum. So, it’s not AS bad as could be. The service was fine to use when I paid 7 days when needed. However, it is unsuitable for the long-term use.
They should create a new account for you with the money left.

I’m so glad I kept Mullvad as a backup.
Edit: actually it might be the huge downloads I was doing. Also I signed up for Astrill and it’s good, works well for China. I haven’t had a disconnect yet as I often had with LetsVPN and Mullvad. Still keeping Mullvad as a backup because it’s cheap, but unstable and slow.
Update: I do get disconnects with Astrill, but for normal browsing and watching videos it’s not noticeable, for gaming though it’s horrible. For gaming now I use UU (that’s its name) made by netease. It’s only for gaming and it’s amazing, cheap too. So yeah, don’t get Astrill VIP for gaming, it’s too expensive.
