I want to set up RDP from anywhere on a Windows PC that uses ProtonVPN. Any recommendations?
Setup a VPN if your firewall, router, NAS, … supports it.
You can also use something like Tailscale / Zerotier.
Honestly, I’m using Teleport to VPN into my network and then a mobile RDP client from there.
Just use zerotier + parsec, its 100% free
Jump Desktop. Real RDP without opening the port in your firewall. I do have Tailscale running too as backup and for other purposes.
RustDesk or VPN to the network then local IP RDP.
Get RadminVPN (free) and then just use RDP using the given IP. I also install EvlWatcher and harden the group policy security just to be on the safe side.
NetBird. Free and good - my opinion

I’d use dynamic DNS personally.
SSH over a random port
I just use Splashtop then disable VPN on the host and client, reconnect via Parsec and re-enable VPN on both clients. It’s a pain until they finally fully allow IPv6.
Ransomware Distribution Protocol.
Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol. It lets me control my PC remotely.
