Ok guys, I tried to login into someone else’s FB account. I used private browsing and VPN. The VPN was some free app and not IP dedicated. Of course it did not work. When they get the suspicious login email, will it share my location? (The FB profile originates from another country) I tried it on my own profile and the email did not show any location.
Sincerely,
Freaking out.
No, your real location won’t be shared. Facebook will only provide an approximate idea of where you are, the device you used, your browser and your OS.
So you don’t have to freak out. If the account that you tried to hack is someone that knows you personally, then he or she can guess that it’s you. Otherwise, you don’t have to worry about it.
Thank you for the reply, I tested it with a friend in the same country and she didn’t receive an alert at all. If it did show a general country it’ll be fairly easy to guess it was me. Thank you again.
Will it show the location of the VPN, or my actual, approximate, location?
It will only show your approximate location. Just search “what is my IP location” on google. It will show some websites, click on it. It will show your IP address and your approximate location.
This will be the same location that Facebook will show if they gave a login alert to the account owner.
