Hi all, I’m connected to my home network running Pihole, with Wireguard on all my devices. I noticed that Apple Private Relay doesn’t work, because my IP doesn’t change.
What are the changes I need to make in order to use my VPN with Pihole and Apple Private Relay?
What is your motivation for using Private Relay while using Pi-hole? Traffic from your Safari browser will bypass Pi-hole.
Which aspect doesnt work? Emails not loading etc?
I only have 1 wireguard instance setup on my android.
I set it up by pivpn
How do I change from split tunnel to full tunnel? Can’t seem to do it with the pivpn
I have WireGuard + pihole. When I’m at home I disconnect from WireGuard and only have my iPhone’s dns pointing to the pihole. When I’m away from my home WiFi WireGuard connects and I’m routing through the pihole setup. Private relay does not work for me either. It gives the same message home or away “wireless network” isn’t compatible with iCloud private relay.
error
Apple Relay doesn’t work, the IP is still the same of my VPN. Instead, Apple private relay should give another generic ip to my client. I also added BLOCK_ICLOUD_PR=false
To the configuration file in Pihole.
With iOS works seamlessly to me
Yup thats what you need:
BLOCK_ICLOUD_PR=false in /etc/pihole/pihole-FTL.conf
Restart the dns from the ui or pihole restartdns
IP is still the same, so the relay doesn’t work for me. I have the latest Mac OS and iOS software. Maybe it’s because I’m connecting to my network with the VPN?
I’m not sure, but I also guess that this is a problem with the VPN. Well, you could simply connect to your home network and try if it works without the VPN, then you’ll know it.
I for myself used WireGuard for a bit, but as soon as the network type (mobile/wifi etc) changes, I need to manually restart the app (on Android). In the end I gave up on wireguard. At least for now.
