BBC iPlayer outside of the UK?

I was wondering if there’s any way to run BBC iPlayer on the Apple TV outside of the UK as I used to own a Fire TV Stick and had just sideloaded the app but I recently just switched to Apple TV and I can’t really find anyway of doing it other than changing the region to UK and making a UK Apple ID, is there a way I could sideload iPlayer or is there any other easier way than having to reset my Apple TV?

Use a smart DNS server and create a UK based second account so you can easily download all streaming services from the Apple Store, not just iPlayer but also ITVX, 4, 5, U etc.

You’ll have to create another AppleID for UK AppStore.

FYI there is no subtitles available sadly.

If I have the UK region Apple ID and a vpn will I need to change the region on my Apple TV?

Check out Tailscale.

I am using SmartDnsProxy and everything works, even 4k and HLG hdr. I have been using them for years and it works great because you can use your full line speed for streaming as only handshake is routed…
Here is my affiliate link below but there is a free trial so give it a go.
And as someone already said, you have to make an UK appleID to download iplayer to your appleTV

No. Just your UK region Apple ID will be enough. Bonus: you can add that UK Apple ID as a user profile to your Apple TV and every time you switch to that profile, you will have access to the UK App Store.
