If you want a VPN, you could install Proton VPN for free. For a password manager, you should get LastPass and for malware protection I would suggest Kaspersky. Kaspersky is banned in the USA, so if you live there, you should get Bitdefender instead**.**
someone logged in to my x account in russia
hacked 2 times from bite defender
total collapse from proton
If you require a reliable antivirus with a free version, I recommend trying out Malwarebytes. It provides a free trial of the premium version, and even if you opt not to purchase the full version, you can still retain the PC scanner. The only drawback of the premium version is that it doesn’t include a password manager. However, for a password manager, I would suggest using Google’s built-in option or Nordpass.
I just want to be able to run a scan once in a while and not have it constantly running and slowing down my somewhat older windows pc
Bitdefender ultra in combination with windows defender and a common sense and you are ready to go… bitdefender has a very nice protection and doesn’t turn off your windows defender so you can make use of both of them simultaneously…
(heck, you could even also make use of malwarebytes from time to time if you would really want that extra extra protection but,) i guess that bitdefender is enough for your all around protection.
Bitdefender also comes in with a handy VPN, powerful enough to show a different IP adress while gaming and what not , only not powerful enough to actually stream Netflix or HBO from ’ other countries 'and what not, because the correspondent site or service will still see that there is something weird going on with your connection and i’ve read that they keep logs.
If you don’t want this and if you have the extra dough, you could use NordVPN instead. Now you can actually Netflix and what not and the internet thinks the ip is yours (if i can say that like that).
So bitdefender. while the prices may be high , the antivirus and protection are quite exeptional(except the VPN is not that that powerful) .
I personally use bit defender total security and it’s been long time almost 5 years I guess.
It’s a good software. It has good protection, vpn with 200mb only and does come with parental control and password manager. So overall a good option in the world of antivirus.
But for VPN I use NordVPN or Opera Browser which has a inbuilt VPN
If you’re in the US which is sucks now cause they banned Kaspersky💀. Use other AV like Malwarebytes or BitDefender. But if you’re outside then your lucky Kaspersky works🥳
Using Kaspersky Total Security now, else was using just Kaspersky anti-virus for a decade. For malware, I used to use Malwarebytes, but uninstalled about 10 years ago. For VPN I am using Urban VPN. Though Kaspersky provides an inbuilt VPN which I feel is expensive. Tried Norton once, but it slowed down my PC so much so that I had to somehow uninstall it and been never using it since. This was another reason to choose Kaspersky, as it doesn’t slow down my PC. For password manager I use LastPass.
Hi, I thought I would put my two Penny’s worth in I use bitfinder on 15 devices from home PC computers to 5 Android phones and 3 tablets I try and get a 15 devices policy it runs me around $140 Australia never had a problem with it never had a virus or hacked this month is two years I have used it I also shop around to find a grate deal on its licence. I have had virus trying to infect my computer but it’s always been stopped
I recommend bitfinder.
Norton changes so many files it is considered a virus.it also slows your computer way down. That would be a big NO! to Norton
You should get these things by themselves. Nobody has the best of all 3
I used to use Kaspersky, then I switched to Bitdefender and I’m happy with it MullvadVPN or ProtonVPN as a VPN and Bitwarden is the best password manager
Theres no need for antivirus if you have enough common sense, windows defender and an ad blocker on your browser. For VPN if you live in a 14 eyes country and you torrent stuff, i suggest Proton because mullvad doesnt have port forwarding anymore.
And for password managers i never got the reason why would people need it, since everything nowadays can be protected via 2FA authorizations
Avoid Kaspersky as it is Russian spyware. It is banned from Government use in several countries, and has been flagged as malicious in the EU.
The best anti-virus in 2024 would solely be ESET.
The best anti-malware in 2024 is Malwarebytes.
The best VPN is Mullvad. Most of the other available VPN options will sell or share your data with governments like China or the US.
There are no totally secure E-Mail providers who won’t just hand your data over to save their own skins. The highly touted Proton recently disclosed user data, leading to arrests, and has in the past given user data when requested on several occasions. Proton tracks user info like IP addresses, per Swiss law, and other miscellaneous information like clicks and flagged keywords.
Kaspersky for AV, Mullvad for VPN, Protonmail for secure email, Bitwarden for secure password management, Brave for secure browsing.
Just download malwarebytes and manually scan your device every month. Don’t need nothing more than that
Windows defender is all you need. The rest is common sense, don’t download any shady stuff.
Really helpful! Thank you so much!
Ever since I canceled my Kaspersky subscription and trusted Windows Defender, my PC is noticeably slow. I’m also not downloading anything because I don’t fully trust WD. Both monitors sometimes turn black wallpaper!
I may just go back to subscriptions
