Hi all, I have a question.
I have the following setup:
Flint 2 server router Country 1 & Flint 2 client router in Country 2
If I connect the ethernet cable directly to the Flint 2 client, am I able to toggle between using the VPN (Internet through the server in Country 1) and the local Internet (normal IP) or do I have to get a second router and connect that to Flint 2 client?
Easily. You can either simply enable and disable the VPN client as needed on the client router, or can figure the client to only have the VPN enabled for certain devices, or on an individual VLAN (or several other options).
If you’re going to be traveling regularly though, I’d recommend a travel size router like the Beryl AX or Slate AX as the client router for portability.
Don’t forget if you have block all non-VPN traffic enabled on the client side router then when you disable the VPN you’ll have no internet. You may not care about blocking all non-VPN traffic though. It’s just an extra “safety” feature for some.
I will not be traveling at all, hence the Flint 2.
It’s great to hear I can manually disable the VPN. Thank you for putting my mind at ease.
I assume I can do this in the settings of the router. Do you happen to know where they are?
Thanks for the tip, I will have to enable that within working hours and disable it after, when I stop the VPN. Must not forget to do it otherwise I’m screwed.
Yes, it’s a simple software switch to enable or disable.
A better but more advanced solution would be to setup a VLAN for your personal devices to not use the VPN.
Thanks. Any guides or videos on how to do this?
