Hi, I was just wondering, can you choose a very specific address (ie office block or hospital) on vpn and when you share your location on sharing apps to show you as being there?
There is so much wrong with this question I genuinely don’t know where to start
I was going to try and help you, but like the other guy, I just don’t know where to start
Overall, the answer is no, it’s not possible to fake your location on an app on your phone, with the exception of an unlocked device (Jailbroken iPhone, or Rooted Android), and some specific software designed for the job, which isn’t a VPN
Why do you want to expose your location?
I go to a lot of trouble to block these internet trackers.
Most VPN offers city wise IPs but till now I didnt see any VPN that given specific location wise IPs. In simple words no.
No, you have to do your filthy Cheater businesses with fake GPS location and Google maps.
Share location and activate the fake movement option so your position will fake the normal activity of a pedestrian. (Otherwise you will result stuck in place)
Apologies for that. I am not using vpn and never have. Just trying to make sense of something that went wrong when someone shared their location to me and exploring if this could remotely be a possibility
Absolutely false.
On android You just need to activate the developer mode
went wrong
Define “went wrong”. How far away were they? Apps request a location from the device handset, which uses various technologies to judge the location. The main one being GPS, however if this is disabled, it falls back on other options, which are far more unreliable. One of these will be your internet connection location, which can be manipulated using a VPN, but a “specific building” isn’t quite right. It’s a best guess based on knowledge of the IP address
Absolutely mostly false
You’re right in that this is a feature, but it’s incredibly easy to develop your app to detect mocked locations, and this is very much the case for location based games, such as Pokemon Go
In fact, I’m fairly certain in modern versions of the operating system, there’s an easily accessible property on the API for telling you if the location is mocked
Ok so what went wrong is this: he shared his location on WhatsApp and it showed him at the hospital he said he was. I didn’t check his location again for 3 hours. It said that the last update was one minute after I initially checked and it showed him in a retail park 15 miles away. He said he didn’t go there at all, and I can’t make sense of this, especially after his location at 13:38 was at the hospital and the last update at 13:39 at the retail park 15 miles away. I know he used vpn on his laptop for work purposes and possibly on his phone, so I wondered whether its possible to set the vpn to show he is at the hospital but he might have disabled the vpn straight away and show his real location. I don’t know how else to make sense of this. I know WhatsApp live location can show you accidentally a few blocks away, but not 15 miles.
You slightly overstimate people skills
