Cyberghost VPN causes Control Center Application to die

As a primer, this looks like a problem that’s been around for at least a year for our Tongfang laptops:

The issue is that when I connect to the internet through my VPN, it causes the Control Center application to go “dumb.” The features blank out, my connection to the LPP turns off, and I’ll need to restart Windows to restore any functionality. I’ve reached out to Cyberghost to see if there’s a resolution on their end and will report back as that develops.

Question to the community: have you run into this problem? If so, what did you do to solve it? I’ve read that other VPN services don’t have this issue, and if so, could anyone provide a list of those that appear to work?
