Hamachi not working, alternatives?

Hi, we played DnD via hamachi and foundry. Unfortunately, our router broke and we had to buy a new one. Since then, Hamachi shows a blue dot and we can’t connect. We tried a bunch of things but nothing worked. Including ShadowTier. Don’t know of any way to get it working again. The game was great and fun :frowning:

I’m guessing one of you is hosting foundryvtt?
In that case you don’t need hamachi you need to port forward your router to allow traffic from outside to be forwarded to the host machine on port 30000.

Google “ port forwarding” and follow the instructions. It basically means anything connecting to my public IP address on port 30000 (default foundry port) should be forwarded to my local machine IP address (usually in the form of 192.168.1.x) on the same port

ZeroTier

When fake local network is in order our party went with Radmin VPN. It seems to work exactly like Hamachi.

I personally use a nodejs command called “localtunnel” . Works good !

What Aquatic Melon said, port forwarding is easy when you know how, you don’t need any equipment other than Foundry itself to self-host

You could try CloudFlare tunnels. It’s free and easier than hamachi. Only the host has to set it up.

If your ISP isn’t letting you port forward, Radmin VPN is a great alternative that functions identically. I’ve been using it to great success with no hitches — works like a charm, and saves me the headache of dealing with my ISP.

Local network created through Radmin VPN works for my group.

Ngrok.io or playit.gg are very simple to get set up and playing.

In a pinch you can use a Weber, though those big ceramic ones are good if you can swing it

If you can’t port forward you may be able to enable UPnP in the router settings which should sort it out for you.

I have used Radmin VPN for almost 2 years, works exactly like hamachi, but better. You also have the advantage that there is no device limit on a network. Try it out

Thanks, it seems to be working great <3
