Kaspersky Free is reporting Surfshark 1.1.1.1 Invalid certificate. Ignore?

Hi, starting this week on my Windows PC, Kaspersky Free throws up an error message that the application Surfshark with URL 1.1.1.1 and reason:

Invalid certificate name. the name is not included in the list of allowed names or is explicitly excluded from it.

Kaspersky’s error message has the options to “Disconnect” or “Continue.”

I’m really not knowledgeable in any of this. Can someone explain like I’m a five year old, and what I should do? (My mommy is not available at the moment, and daddy left a long time ago.)

Made an exception for the x86 folder and the 64 bit folder. Made an exception for the driver folder also, it still doesn’t stop it. It’s VERY annoying.

FWIW, I have 5 PCs between a desktop, 2 laptops, and 2 surfaces and all have Surfshark and Kaspersky. Only 2 have this issue. Maybe it’s a installation issue? Maybe it’s Surfshark??

I contacted Kaspersky who got back to me asking for screenshots, which I sent to them.

They sent me a response which has been working successfully for a day (see below).

You have to add 1.1.1.1 to the trusted addresses in Kaspersky, then make sure you save and confirm the change. (I initially failed to confirm and it did not work)

"Dear customer,
Greetings!

Appreciate you getting in touch
By following the simple steps below, you can quickly and easily rectify the issue at hand.
Settings → Security Settings → Network Settings → Encrypted Connections Scan → Trusted addresses.
Add the 1.1.1.1 to the Trusted Addresses
Should you face any more issues or have any further queries, please do not hesitate to let us know, and we will be more than happy to assist you."

OP here. Yeah, Surfshark helpdesk responded that I should make Surfshark an exception in Kaspersky. I realized later that somehow the VPN Protocol setting was having problems only when it chose Wireguard, which I think several months ago they said not to use.

I have the same problem. I just asked kaspersky about it. will let u know if they reply.

Hey OP, how did you go around resolving the issue? I am having the same problem, and I’ve tried listing Surfshark as an exception/trusted application, but it still throws up the 1.1.1.1 error message.

Right on, I’m glad you got the answer.

FWIW (nothing) my recollection is they told me to make the exception to actions from the Surfshark executable, but I was scared to do that. I may have misunderstood them. Probably did.

That seems to have solved my case. Thanks for the detailed information.
