Leaving ExpressVPN after 7 years

I subscribed after the trial period because I was impressed with the features and reliability of the product. But over the past year and a half or so, the service has declined to the point that I just don’t like the product. The Google issue was the last straw for me (I couldn’t search Google unless the VPN was turned off).

And now Netflix is practically unusable when using any US Site. I live in the Middle East and my Netflix is a US subscription.

I’ve heard horror stories about difficulty in canceling the subscription. Mine expires in mid June. I’m gonna get ahead of it and call the credit card company to see if I can ban them from charging for the next annual subscription.

I’m still researching others. Nord looks good but someone mentioned here that their billing sucks. They are pretty comparable to Express in most other areas though but I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

Any recommendations?

Proton VPN is also good and streaming I can watch us content and other countries content bypass restrictions. Way better than express I have both this vpn but proton VPN works really well to me.

I left Express for like a year now, it was barely impossible to make any search on Google without to get captchas and stuff. So bye. I’m using now Proton VPN and I can’t complain

Don’t go on Nord. It is worst than Express. You cannot stream your US content.

Mullvad. Like the only VPN left that actually cares about privacy. Also split tunneling with a click of a button.

I signed up for PureVPN like a year ago… I got 3 years service with a port forwarding add-on for like $130USD… I’m not sure what it costs now tho…

Its honestly pretty awesome and their servers are very fast. It integrates right into Windows 11’s built-in VPN settings, it works as an “always-on” service built right into my Netgear router, or I can use their PureVPN software client if I want… And I can port forward my home server stuff…

Yeah, here’s one - use Revolut or other tokenized cards for subscriptions moving forward. That way you simply block the card/payment and let them cancel it on their end.

I would like to know if you find a new one. I’m in a similar situation and considering leaving too.

Are there any vpns that can allow me to change my location to China?

it’s now defunct in Russia as well (even though they’re promising they’re working on it, for more than 3 months)

I’m not sure how to feel about it myself, especially with some dodgy things about the ownership of the company and the quality of the service declining

I would never use proton vpn now. They turned over ip addresses to Swiss authorities even tho they said they keep a bo log policy and then promptly changed that policy

I’m doing this moving forward. Eventually all these VPN companies get found out.

That’s not expressvpn his fault, just the ip reputation, it will happen too with protonvpn eventually

I’ve been able to stream Netflix US from the first time that I connected to a Nord VPN server. Haven’t been able to do that with Express in over 3 months.

I still have about 23 days left of the 30 day trial period and so far, it’s working well.

One caveat though: when my Apple devices go to sleep, sometimes it’s a bit of a chore to get Nord back up and running.

Love their pricing model! I will check them out. Thanks <3!

What’s the speed like?

the fear is after the free trial ends. That is how company gets you. All is great during the free trial and as soon as the payment transaction is completed, boom you are stuck with us for months or years.

I am going to give NORD a second chance to see whether I can stream MAX, PEACOCK and HULU from my country because previously I can’t.

Generally fine, depends on what server you are using. I know I was downloading at 45mbs the other night from a sever in Sweden

I just started using it. My speeds are better than Express VPN after playing with the settings.
