Good afternoon,
**I am a PFSense Noob** So I am remote at the moment and stupidly was like eh, ill VPN into my pfsense on an already created OpenVPN server on the pfsense box and setup my IPVanish client… Well i guess it work because i can no longer vpn back into the network.
Not a big deal seems like all my traffic is still up i just cant connect remotely in. My question is when i get home; is it possible to retain the ability to VPN into my network while the openvpn client is running? If anyone could send a step by step to make this work that would be awesome, i am still new at pfsense. I have a Pi3 running pihole i can always install openvpn on but trying to avoid it.
Tl;DR - Need IPVanish OpenVPN Client running on pfsense while still being able to VPN to the PFsense openvpn server.
Thank you in advance
Hello, not an expert but i know you cannot port forward with ip varnish. Some vpn provider will allow it but not ip varnish.
But you can vpn in if you allow an ip on lan with a default gateway and proper nating.
Many step by step guide on the net to accomplish this.
Good luck
I figured it out
On the vpn client connections set “don’t pull routes” once I did that I was able to vpn in while my clients were connected outbound
Hello
I assume you have at least a rule on wan something like this to connect inbound;
IPV4 UDP - * - * - WAN ADDRESS - 1194 (OPEN VPN) - *
Did you use the openvpn wizard?
You can troublooshot your openvpn-server with your cellphone if you have one for testing from the net.
I am running an openvpn-client with ipvarnish for remote connection at the moment and can connect inbound into my pfsense openvpn-server. But i have multiple network/vlans.
He re is some starting infos;

Not trying to Port forward like that
I have dyndns that resolved to my local ip, I’m trying to connect to my wan IP to vpn inbound and it doesn’t work while I have vpn connections outbound (client)
