I just got my new Surface Pro 11 today.
Sadly I can’t use ProtonVPN as application right now as there’s no ARM64 version available. And through the translation layer while it starts up, it is unable to connect anywhere (waiting for internet connection).
Please provide an ARM64 version of your app soon. I’m pretty sure there will be lots of users out there in the very near future.
That’s unfortunate, but you can still use Proton’s servers while you wait for a fix. For now, you can try using ProtonVPN’s WireGuard configs with either the official WireGuard client or Windscribe’s VPN client (open source). They both provide arm64 builds. If you decide to use Windscribe’s client, use their manual configuration option, which allows you to import any WireGuard or OpenVPN config and take advantage of their kill switch and split tunneling features. Also, you don’t need to make a Windscribe account, just press the manual config option since you won’t be using their servers anyways. These features are currently unavailable with the official WireGuard client.
Yes, Wireguard configs are working fine. So no issue there.
But this is still a major problem for all new Owners of such devices (and there will be tons of them considering that Dell, Lenovo and co. now are all selling laptops with Snapdragon SoCs).
Appreciate this workaround, but an important caveat is this doesn’t support Port Forwarding which enables more effective P2P support. You can use a Linux script to run the Linux command natpmpc on WSL using a DO loop to get the ProtonVPN server to assign you a port forwarding number (at least you can with OpenVPN, never got it to work with a WireGuard client), but it changes quite frequently so in practical terms, if you want to use ProtonVPN’s port forwarding feature with a Windows ARM64 machine (like the Snapdragon X, or the new Surface Pro), you are out of luck for now. So +1 for me on ARM64 native application support!
We’ve noted your request for future consideration.
And another - just subscribed and stumped that I can’t have a VPN with Proton directly (part of the package). Pretty please?
Id like to echo this please - I also have a Snapdragon X Elite laptop - and want to use ProtonVPN on it!
I’ll 3rd this - I have the Snapdragon X Elite laptop - hangs trying to connect to the server and doesn’t connect. Have to reboot to get internet connection back. Dunno if it makes a difference but it happened on Windows 11 Home (which was OEM preloaded) and Windows 11 Pro which I upgraded to by buying an upgrade key.
ditto, Nord and others don’t work, so if you get yours working on ARM64 Windows for the newest wave of PCs (your drive app too) then you’ll be ahead of the curve
Indeed not working on my new Surface laptop 7. I’m up for a new VPN service since my NordVpn is expiring soon. Could you give an estimate on when this will be available? ProtonVpn got recommended by someone but this is a showstopper for me.
I’ll sixth this. Just upgraded to Unlimited too. Would be good if I can natively use the VPN and Drive apps.
Add another request for this in there.
Just use Wireguard for now until they updated the client.
Wireguard works fine.
I’ll 4th this. I have a Snapdragon X Elite laptop coming in soon, and I’m really disappointed that Proton won’t work on it.
